Cheryl POV
As we get farther along the path, it gets creepier and creepier. The amount of forestry increases the farther we go, and every so often we see bones lying around. Hopefully animal bones. Clouds have gathered now, and it doesn't look like we're in for very pleasant weather. My theory is proved when we hear loud bursts of thunder booming around us.
I look at Kate. I know that if there's one thing she hates, it's lightning. Mainly because her house was struck by it and caught fire, killing her dog whom was her only source of comfort in her house of 'perfection'. She must be worried, as she is whenever there are storms.
Seeing her stricken face makes me feel bad for her. Some of the others might not think one simple storm is a fear factor for her, but I know better. So I say "Er... guys? Maybe we should go find somewhere to stay until the storms over." They look unconvinced. I add "If it starts raining, the ground will get muddy and people will be able to see our footprints. Not exactly ideal if we want to keep ourselves hidden, right?" They nod in assessment and Kate gives me a look of appreciation. She can tell why I wanted to stop walking, and it sure wasn't footprints I was worried about.
We find a small cave to stay in for the time being, and settle in just before the first line of lightning cracks into the sky.
Kate POV
It's just a storm.. Just a storm... BOOM! More thunder comes and although I don't show it, especially in front of Seth, I am terrified. Red, my old dog was burnt to a crisp inside my house in the middle of a storm just like this one. But everyone said it was a freak accident. Never going to happen again. I just need to calm down.. I sit down quietly and close my eyes. All is well. I'll be okay. Breath in, breath out. All I can hear is the sounds of my deep breaths, until I hear the crack of the tree as it falls onto our cave, making it collapse on top of us.
