Caylie POV

I did it. I healed him. I look around at the others, whom can only see that Jack is conscious. Alex looks in a state of utmost shock, Kate is massaging the now red patch on her jaw where Alex hit her, watching Jack in aw, and the others mouths are gaping.

Pleased with myself, I start to move aside the bloody bandages surrounding Jack. He looks confused, but also as if he's on the verge of laughing.

"What happened?" he says in his now re-en-stated, always goofy tone. I smile and start to laugh. How can I help it? This problem, this humongous problem, has been fixed. Because of me. I can't believe this.

This is my ability! The thing which I can do... I can heal wounds. I did it naturally to my shoulder, and I just did it to Jack's side. He's safe. We're going home! Home, finally, where we can never worry about this stinking path again!

Ashlyn is the first to speak.

"You-you can heal things!" she says, sounding as shocked as I feel. All I can think about is how happy I am that we can go home. Home, home, home. I remember how this, after I got attacked, was my power, so that means whoever gets hurt, or has a nightmare next will get one to. Dang-it. I really don't want anyone else to get hurt. Painful, obviously. But... Then they'd be denied the chance of a special ability. Who cares, if they're safe, all is well. We don't need these abilities.

"Caylie, you're a genius!" Ashlyn says, awed. I laugh again and give her a thumbs up.

"Thanks. But it was no problem, really... I just had to put my hand on his side. Done." I smile. She tilts her head, and then shakes it.

"You thought... Sorry about that." she says, obviously having known what I thought, "You thought 'We get abilities when we get attacked." Everyone looks kind of lost, except for Grace, who stirs and pipes up, "Jack!"

My jaw drops, and it does this along with the others. Except for Jack, who quite frankly doesn't know much about what has happened in the last few days, not being here and all. Jack. Jack, Jack, Jack, Jack, JACK! He'll get an ability too. He must. Everyone else has one who got attacked.

"Er.... Don't mean to break this fantastically dramatic moment," says Jack awkwardly, "But what the heck is going on? I know I'm alright and all.... But... I must admit, I'm kinda lost." Everybody gives a shaky laugh. I look to Alex, and nod, giving her the cue to explain these things to her brother.

She tells our tales quite well, and Jack is an excellent audience. He gasps in the right places, and looks shocked and confused as to why these things have happened.

"...And that's why Caylie could heal your side." Alex says, a few minutes later, "She got powers from being attacked. We're not sure why we get them though."

There are a few moments of silence. Kind of awkward. Finally, Jack breaks the silence.

"You don't have any idea at all? And why are you all looking at me like I'm a golden brick?" he asks, confused.

"No.. Uh... We just know that whenever someone gets hurt they end up having some weird difference in what they can then do." Cheryl says, "Caylie, as you know, can heal things. Kate can establish injuries. She knows what happened to people. She can just tell. Ashlyn can read minds. Kind of creepy, actually." she says, with a nod towards Ashlyn.

"And, I am, as Ashlyn and Kate keep telling me, a human dictionary. Does that clear it up? Oh and, " she adds, "We're all staring at you because you got hurt. Attacked, if you may. We're all looking at you because we're wondering what thing you'll be able to do next. Personally, I would recommend time travel. I really want to see when we get out of this mess." We all laugh, and Jack purses his lips.

"So something.. Abnormal is going to happen to me." he says, "Something supernatural. Well, this is weird."

Yeah. Yeah, yeah it is.
