Jack POV
I smile at them. They will come with me. I know they will. Ashlyn looks at me, frustrated."Argh!" she says. I grin at her, tilting my head.
"You," she says angrily, taking a step towards me. I take a step back. I really don't want her attacking me again.
"You know we could each just grab one of your arms, and yell our heads off until someone comes, right?" she retorts. The smile slides off of my face. I try to put it back on but it just won't stay. Why do they have to make it so complicated?
"I can kick pretty hard," I say. That's my last resort. I don't want to hurt them. I don't want to hurt anybody.
Cheryl sighs.
"You're so difficult, Jack," she says, "I wish you'd just stop all of this. You don't need to go." Ashlyn nods.
She and Cheryl look at each other for a moment. Ashlyn makes certain faces as Cheryl tilts her head back and forth. Ashlyn squints and often says, "Yes.... well, no... maybe.."
Oh no. She's doing the mind thing again. Eventually, they stop staring at each other and look at me instead.
"Okay," Ashlyn says, giving up, "We'll go with you. We give up." My smile returns.
Just the three of us. This won't be pleasant.
