Falling Stars

A/N: Hi to everyone who reads this. I tried something new for this poem. I've been inspired by many talented writers and decided to give this rhyming thing a shot. Please go easy on me and thank you for all the support. XD

I gaze upon the sky tonight

It smiles back at me and shines its light.

The many stars are placed so high,

In an infinite universe, I could count them all in sight.

I'm lost for words as my eyes take in,

The elegant fall of a dozen stars before me.

I stand up from the Earth,

And let the stars rain all around.

The once lively stars have reached their end,

But they are still light years away and choose to transcend.

A blend of colours paint the sky,

With a sheer iridescence that passes by.

They make no sound, as the ground stands still,

Awaiting their descend with thrill.

One last thing that must be done,

To capture this night before the sun.

I shut my eyes,

And make a final wish.

One that can't be shared as the saying goes,

If I tell you now, it may fail to spring like an evening primrose.

(Did you wish on the falling star tonight?)
