Catching Fireflies

We travel to find life.

Like fireflies, we seek the night,

for comfort.

The dark, it is our time to glow bright.

Like fireflies, we hide ourselves in the day,

to show our true luminescent selves,

once the sun sets.

We run aimlessly through grassy fields, explore lands,

and swim through rivers.

Like fireflies, we have no direction,

only a sense of adventure.

Our bodies are on the ground,

but our minds are somewhere far.

Like fireflies, we surround the Earth,

with our wings,

we aim to fly higher.

A/N: This poem brought back many childhood memories in the summer when I would just admire the lights of fireflies in my backyard (I still do this now :) ) Can you guys relate? Let me know. I felt like they were tiny little fairies in disguise. Spreading magic in the night :)
