Chapter 12

Dani's POV

Piper takes me to the weapon shed

"Okay so Capture the Flag is today, you'll need a lot of armor, or something can go seriously wrong." she explains

I nod, and she hands me a breastplate

I put it on, and she hands me shoulder armor

"This is heavy" I whine

"Trust me you'll get over it" Piper says seriously

"I hope Hepeasthus is on our team" i announce

Piper winks

"No not because of Leo, because Leo told me that they really hate us, and they know how to get revenge." I explain

We walk to the edge of the forest, and Chiron, a half horse half human thing, announces the teams," The blue team is

Demeter,Ares,Nemesis,Poseidon,Hades,Hypnos"

People cheer loudly, and so do I.

"On the red team is Aphrodite,Hepheasthus,Hecate, Hermes, Zeus, Apollo, Athena"

My cabin groans, but everyone else cheers

"Get with your teams now" Chiron says his voice booms

My team huddles on one side of the forest.

They talk about out the plans, but I gaze up at the tree.

"Wow, and I thought Leo was the most ADHD demigod here" Annabeth laughs

"Oh uhh" I blush

"You should pay more attention, you can get killed in this game" She warns

My eyes widen.

"Don't worry,"

"Okay everyone get in your positions, remember no killing!"

All the Ares kids groan.

He blows a whistle and Leo, Jason, and Annabeth run into the forest.

"Where do I go?" I ask

Piper taps my shoulder, and I follow her.

"Our job is to get the flag, we can charmspeak so It won't be that hard" she whispers

I nod, and Percy bursts out of the forest with a three foot sword in hand.

My bow won't be much help against a sword, so I close it.

Percy swings at my sides, but the armor blocks it.

"Put that sword down, Percy, " I charmspeak

And his sword shrinks into a ballpoint pen.

He punches me, but I block him

I kick him in the side, and Percy winces a little

He knees me in stomach, and I fall back against Annabeth's legs

"Really, Seaweed Brain, you have to target the newbie?" She says with a look in her eye.

I crawl away from Annabeth, and run forward not knowing where to go.

I see someone running toward me, and I shoot an arrow in their foot.

He roll over, and grab my ankle pulling me down.

I kick him in the face, and I look down and realize it's Nico

"Oh hey" I say quickly

I run to the creek, I step in the cold water,I wade quickly.

I see the flag tucked on top of a pile of rocks.

Then a wave of water, pushes me back.

I hit the ground hard, on my right side.

A sharp pain shoots up from my right foot to my right shoulder

I yell out in pain.

I try to get up, but I can't

I just lay on the hard dirt.

I push myself to a tree, and hopefully I blend in.

I see Leo run towards me, " Dani what's wrong"

"I don't know I was pushed back by a huge wave of water, and now I can't get up"

Leo kisses my cheek, and hands me that ambrosia stuff.

I eat it, and instantly feel better.

I get up," Okay, Leo you distract Percy, and I'll get the flag"

I walk towards the creek, and Percy makes another wave towards me, but Leo holds fire against the water

I jump over the creek, and luckily no one is guarding the flag.

I climb up the rock, quickly, nervous that someone will attack me.

I reach the top, and she the flag blowing in the wind

I grab it, and climb down the rock.

I sprint over the creek, and tuck the flag in my pocket, and load my bow.

A big girl with stringy brown hair and a spear blocks my way.

"I don't think so" she growls

I shoot at her arm, and try to run away.

She trips me, and tugs at the flag that's in my pocket

I roll over, and kick my legs at her.

"What are you a baby?" she yells

I kick her in the mouth, and she yells in pain.

I run back to my side of the forest.

Chiron blows his whistle," Red team wins!"

My team cheers.

I walk back to my cabin, sore and tired

"Now wasn't that fun?" Piper asks wiping a smudge of dirt of her face

"Yes" I breath" Almost getting killed by your peers is really fun"

"Well you don't have to he sarcastic"

"I'm not" I smile

Piper throws her towel at me," Goodnight"

"Night" I smile
