Athen walked along the cliff edge of her home island, the view was breathtaking as the sun set along the sea line, sending spiralling colours into the cloudy sky. She took a long breath and let it out slowly staring out over the water.
"Are you alright?" He asked kindly enough. Athen turned to the brown-eyed man.
"Im fine, just. . . Thinking i suppose" Athen replied, bending down to the grass and sitting down. Viggo followed suit, sitting beside her. They were silent for a while, sitting and enjoying the silence and company. As the darkness very slowly took its hold on the island the colours in the sky faded away into the inky blackness of the night sky - resembling a certain black green-eyed dragon ridden by the chiefs son.
"Krogans still out there," Athen said out of nowhere. She shivered slightly with the cold winter air. Viggo frowned.
"Why worry now about him? The riders have decimated his hunters and destroyed his island camps. If he is out there he doesn't have much to his side" The man replied. His eyes flickered towards her for a moment lingering on her figure. Athen raised a brow.
"What?" she asked, confusion clear on her face. It was darker now, the moon shone just enough for the two to be able to see the area around them, their dragons rested down the hill further. Viggo had a small smile on his face.
"I'm not allowed to look at a beautiful woman?" he said simply. Athen's eyes widened for a moment before she turned her gaze to the ground.
"Very funny" she chucked with no humour in her voice. Viggo's smile fell slightly.
"I'm not trying to make a joke here Athen" He stated plainly. Athen just shook her head.
"We should head back to the village before they get worried" She replied. Pushing herself to her feet and turning back down the hill and away from the cliff edge. She walked with her head slightly down and Viggo watched her walk away. He had gotten up from the ground now and confusion was written on his face as plain as a book. She disappeared from sight and he was about to follow when someone spoke behind him.
"Woman are confusing ay?". Ryker stood by his brother, his arms crossed over his chest and he followed Viggos gaze down the hill to the treeline.
"I thought you were talking with the chief" Viggo stated.
"I was, but watching you try to woo her is much more entertaining" Ryker laughed with a deep voice.
"I wasn't trying to 'woo' her, I was simply giving her a compliment" Viggo replied. His brother rolled his eyes and Viggo set off down the hill, hearing the crunching of steps of his brother following him. "Please do not follow me, I am not in the mood to deal with you and whatever you have on your mind".
He left the hill on his dragons back and headed to bed for the night.
It snowed overnight, the village hut roofs were lined with the white powdery snow that shined in the now rising sun. It was still chilly with a morning wind and the clouds were still hugging the edge of the sky where it mixed into the water on the horizon line at the edge of sight. The slight wind blew the cloths and flags around as the Vikings awoke for another day. Athen yawned heavily and tugged on her furred coat, making sure it was around her shoulders before she slipped on her boots and left the house sluggishly - her brother in tow, just as tired and sluggish.
The siblings made their way towards the great hall, soon joined by their dragons who had slept the night in the half build dragon hanger in the warm caves of the island. Vantus purred, butting her head against Athens' arm. Athen laughed slightly and ran her hands through the fur on the dragon's neck, petting it. The Woolly Howl purred louder and trotted alongside its rider who ended up arriving at the great hall, opening the door, letting the cold wind in for a moment before slamming it behind her.
The great hall housed most of the Vikings of the village, Hiccup was talking with Fishlegs and Gobber with a stressed look on his face. Athen and Snotlout walked over and the woman asked what was going on that caused Hiccup to look so stressed.
"I went out with Toothless this morning and there's a huge snowstorm headed towards Berk - should be here soon and we're trying to figure out what we are going to do about it, dad's already locking down the animals in the dragon stables - that's why all the dragons are in here" the boy finished explaining and Athen shook her head in confusion.
"It's sunny out there"
"And you don't expect something to ruin that nice weather?" he chuckled slightly, Athen smiled and nodded along. It was true, the weather was known to change quickly.
"Its time to bunker down for the day Lassie," Gobber said, wandering off to tell the others to get ready for the coming storm.
