there he stood
in all his pride and glory
with a secretive smile
but his grey eyes,
they told the bitter truth
pain and despair,
happiness was his lasting disguise.
everyone fell for this act
from the closest friends
to the farthest strangers.
however, this disguise is only temporary
for his act is crumbling
a little more each day
and it hurts to witness him fall apart
as his smile slips away.
