May 3rd (5 years earlier)...

Who said being a ten year old was easy? Parents always tell their children to never grow up too fast—seize the great wonders of childhood.

But for Peter Parker, being ten was the worst.

He was the loner, the nerd, and awkward quiet kid at school. He tried to make friends but everyone just seemed to grow distant away from him since he was so nerdy. All he would talk about was homework assignments, science, bad pun jokes, and Star Wars but it pushed people away—his own classmates calling him odd.

It wasn't his fault he was like this—he was just a naturally shy kid at heart and his pre-teen years were just about to begin. He knew people were calling him weird and quiet behind his back and he wanted it all to stop.

And one day, it only got worse.

The words turned into kicks in the gut and punches in the eye. He was walking a block away from his school to his Aunt May and Uncle Ben's house, confident that he could take care of himself and walk just a block down the street. But some kids pushed him into a wall near a deserted alleyway and started calling him skinny, awkward, and weird.

Peter Parker tried to fight back, but against these older kids, he felt powerless.

At that moment, Peter wanted to be older also so that he could make the bullies pay. And as he felt a shoe push his face to ground, he let out a pained scream—only to be silence with a hand covering his mouth.

The older kids laughed as he spit out dirt from the ground and cried in tears. Peter desperately wished they stop, begging for them to let him go.

But what he didn't know was who was walking and turning around the corner. A boy, Harold Osborn had just picked up his little sister from school and they were both heading to the sandwich shop down the street.

Madeline Osborn was the first to notice a little boy's muffled screams a few feet away and she turned her head to see the group of bullies wrestling a kid to the ground.

Her feet had stopped moving and her blue eyes widened when she saw the sight.

Maddie wanted to do something. But how could she? She was only ten and she knew she'd be no good up against kids older than her. So she did the next best thing and caught up to her brother who was listening to music on his iPod.

"Harry!" She pleaded and tugged on his shirt. He shrugged her off once, but that didn't stop the little girl from getting his attention. She huffed out a frustrated breath and tugged on his arm as it slipped out of his pocket. Harry's body turned around and he had a mad expression across his features.

"Mads, stop," he said, pulling out an earphone from his ear, "That's annoying- -"

"- -Someone needs help over there!" She interrupted and pointed to the alleyway.

Harry furrowed his eyebrows, curious by his sister's words and walked back to the opening of the alley. There, he saw the group of boys below his age beating on a poor kid. His backpack was littered with papers and books were left opened and ripped.

"Hey!" Harry yelled down the alley, making the boys stop and turn their heads, "You wanna get out of here or am I gonna have to make you?!"

The boy's scrambled as they gathered their backpacks with fear in their eyes as Harry took threatening steps towards them. They leave Peter on the ground, curled in a ball huddled against the wall.
