The Mother entered Hope's room, not surprised to find her exhausted and lying on her bed.

"So, have you decided?" she asked

"Yes, and I won't give you energybending." Hope replied weakly.

The Mother shrieked and grabbed Hope by the collar of her uniform. Hope tried to wriggle away in vain, but the Mother had a strong grip.

"DON'T YOU REALIZE THE FATE OF THE WORLD IS AT STAKE HERE!" She tossed Hope against the wall. Hope slid down the wall, before finding her footing and getting back up again.

"The world will be even more unbalanced if people like you try to mess up things!" Hope aimed a careful flame at the Mother but ended up hitting the bed instead.

The bedsheet began to burn. Hope quickly left the room, the Mother sprinting after her.

As Hope dodged weapons of all kinds on her way out to the door, she silently thanked Lucas and Mr. Grayson, the two biggest inspirations in her life.

Hope finally found the door. Panting, she tried to open it. After a little bit of fiddling around with the rusty doorknob, she opened it and ran into the great outdoors.
