How did this happen? Easy, human error of course.
Nothing that complicated. Scientists tried to create a cure for cancer and since animal testing is prohibited and animal genes are to far from ours they tested on humans and boom, bang bobs your uncle.
Zombies.
All the once E-Zombies turned to Dead Walkers because humans didn't want to supply them with human parts anymore and they were getting killed in numbers.
Side note tho...
E-zombies are the ones that still want human flesh but are more sivalized, like the virus didn't effect the brain much. They can think, talk, have feeling all that stuff but prefer an eyeball for breakfast instead of cereal or a liver for dinner instead of steak. This could be considered as cannibalism and it was for the first month or so but then the rebellion started.
The government tried to keep peace for the 3 months after the virus came but the E-Zombies got angry so they attacked humans and the fences that kept the Dead Walkers away were broken open to let out the once E-Zombies but that left us exposed so once again bobs your uncle, 4 years later and no one is safe. No one, but enough of that. Let's get on with my life
