I awoke in a bed, a somewhat strange situation given last night's blur. As I slowly opened my eyes, the room's familiar surroundings began to register. Panic surged through me as I sat up, my mind racing with the possibilities of what might have transpired. At that moment, Noah emerged from his bathroom, clad only in a towel, and he noticed that I had awakened. "Did I wake you up?" he inquired, a touch of confusion in his eyes. I stared at him, attempting to piece together the situation. I scanned the room once more, confirming that I was indeed where I suspected."Did... um... did we...?" I began, my voice trailing off."No," he replied calmly. "You were quite drunk, so I brought you to my room.""What about Elle?" I questioned."Lee took her to his room," he explained."Does she know I'm here?""No," he responded, appearing puzzled."Oh, thank God," I breathed a sigh of relief. "Wait, did you see me in my underwear?" I inquired, noticing that I was wearing one of his jerseys. He smirked, prompting my admonishment. "Noah," I said in response to his smirk, "have you seen my shirt?" I hastily began putting on my skirt. "You mean this one over here?" He held up my skirt, teasingly moving it just out of my reach. "Yes, now give it to me," I insisted, attempting to grasp it, but he playfully kept it out of my reach. "Noah!"I leaped so high that it took us both to the floor, where we began to tussle. Eventually, I found myself entangled in the towel he had been wearing, with him on top of me. I could feel his breath on my neck, and I found myself unable to move. He paused for a moment, his gaze locking onto mine, and he drew closer with each passing second. "Noah," I breathed, my voice barely above a whisper.Suddenly, Lee called his brother, and we quickly disentangled ourselves. I was fortunate to end up on the other side of the room, so when Lee opened the door, he didn't spot me. "Dude, privacy!" Noah scolded, shutting the door in Lee's face. He turned to me and smirked. "I've got to... um... I've got to go," I stammered awkwardly, cursing shirtless Noah Flynn for rendering me utterly tongue-tied. Although I told him I needed to leave, I remained rooted in place, staring at him. He chuckled and asked, "Weren't you going?""Yeah, duh, um, so," I mumbled before finally opening the door. "I was never here," I winked at him. "Thanks, Flynn!"I was heading home when Elle stopped me. "Hey, where were you last night?""Where were YOU last night?" I quipped, wiggling my eyebrows. "Coming from the Flynns' house, huh?"Elle blushed. "It wasn't Noah." I assured myself that it wasn't, and she continued, "But he was acting pretty nice this morning; he even ordered breakfast."I laughed. "Ordered breakfast? Is that because of his nonexistent cooking skills?" Elle looked at me as though I'd just kicked her beloved cat. "Okay, okay, we'll give him the benefit of the doubt." Elle laughed and invited me in, commenting that Dad must be irritated."We'll tell him we spent the night at the Flynns'. He can't be mad at that," I reasoned. We walked in on Dad preparing breakfast. "How was the night?" he asked."Oh, you know, just hopping from party to party, and lighting up some blunts," I joked."Em," Elle said, not realizing I was joking. Dad laughed, leaving Elle bewildered. "Did you take your medicine?" Dad inquired."I don't need you to remind me, Dad; I've got it," I assured him. He sighed and served us pancakes. "Pancakes on a Friday morning, wow?" I beamed, gazing at the plate of pancakes in front of me. "Em, it's Saturday," Elle corrected me. "Shit," I exclaimed, swallowing my last bite and jumping up. "My internship starts today! Gotta go. Love you, bye!" I dashed out of the house and sped through the streets, finally arriving at the marine life rescue center, gasping for breath. "Need some water?" a guy asked, handing me a bottle. "Thanks," I replied, taking it. "Long run?" he inquired."I could qualify for California's cross-country finals after that jog," I quipped. He chuckled, making me pause to give him a closer look. He was... stunning, words couldn't do him justice. His skin was kissed by the sun, his eyes hazel with a hint of green, and his hair... Oh, his hair was simply magnificent, making me yearn to touch it. However, I refrained; that would probably freak him out. "Emily," I said, smiling and extending my hand."Jake," he replied, shaking my hand. "So, Jake, would you mind helping a girl out and taking her to the boss?" I asked."You're talking to him," he said with a smile. "Oh, okay, um, hi, I'm Emily Evans...""Evans," he interrupted. "I was waiting for you. Please follow me." Jake guided me through the entire facility, offering a thorough tour. I couldn't believe my luck; I was about to embark on a journey I loved. It was shaping up to be a great day, at least that's what Jake assured me. They had recently discovered a new turtle nesting location and needed to set up protection measures for the hatchlings. Jake allowed me to accompany him, and I even got my hands dirty. As the night fell, I realized I had missed my curfew, but I couldn't get enough of the action. My dad had several times, but I had left my phone in the main building. We went back there once the turtles were safely in the water. "Hey, Dad, you called?""Yes, just checking to make sure you're coming to lunch with the Flynns today," my dad replied. "Yeah, of course. I'll see you soon," I said, sending a kiss his way and hanging up."Sorry, did I make you miss your curfew?" Jake teased."No, but you could, tonight?" I proposed."Getting right to the point. I like it," he said. "I'll pick you up at seven." I smiled and waved goodbye. "Text me cute photos of the babies?" he requested."You betcha," he replied.
