Chapter 4

"You guys are always so late!" Dana squeaked, shaking her head at the two who tumbled onto the platform with only five minutes to spare. Honey had to make sure that she had absolutely everything she needed for going back which she had to check over five times just in case.

And whilst this was going on, Scott was misplacing things he knew she needed just so they could spend more time together. He hated the first of September more than any other day of the year with the exception of one.

The two days of the year that he hated most revolved around his family and he couldn't wait until next year - when he didn't have to say goodbye to her. Honey panted, grabbing hold of Scott's arm in order to get her breath back.

They were almost the only ones on the platform, and Dana had been telling Scott as Honey got her breath back that her parents left only a minute before they arrived. "I'm going to find the others," Dana finally said when Honey straightened up, waving at the Weasley's just down from them when she caught sight.

"I won't be long," Honey said, "obviously."

"This is the last goodbye," Scott said, his arms already around Honey who hugged him back so tightly both of them could hardly breathe, "that's the only way I'm getting through it this year."

"We have a goodbye at Christmas," she mumbled, head on his chest and trying her hardest not to burst into tears right then and there.

"Way to lighten the mood," Scott grumbled, earning a quiet laugh from Honey who forced it. The thought of next year was in her mind too, when she didn't have to leave him every single year - and she'd be able to see him for more than two months at the most. Letters were a good alternative but they weren't enough.

"I know that there's a lot you're not telling me, Honey. About this world - your world. I know there's something bad...or just wrong, and I know you well enough to know that you haven't told me because I'd worry. You're right, I would worry. But I always worry regardless, after your mum died-"

"Dad you don't have to...talk about it," Honey cut him off, squeezing his hand. She only had a few moments to get on the train, "I know that you worry. You've always been a worrier but you don't have to...I'll tell you when the time is right."

Scott smiled, kissing her forehead with a sad smile and a quiet goodbye, "now go. Keep your grades up, and don't do anything I would do!"

"That's a short list of things I'll be able to do then!" she teased, offering one last smile before finally boarding the train, tears finally streaming down her face and the sight of him soon disappearing from view.

She pushed her sadness to the back of her mind, using the sleeve of her hoodie to wipe her eyes. The mood had instantly changed from the dreary train station as soon as she stepped onto the train, a smile finally finding its way back onto her face.

She hadn't the faintest idea of where her friends were, but she turned right and ventured down through the halls of carriages. She smiled at familiar faces in passing, some of which greeted her and asked about her summer and she could've talked for more than she did about her time with her dad but she knew she should really find Dana.

"Hi, Honey!" a girl in the year below her beamed, she was a Hufflepuff too and they had studied together on occasion.

"Hi, Blair!" Honey grinned, waving. She pushed passed as main people as she could, the halls unusually crowded.

Her eyes caught sight of a familiar face, one that she had heard a lot over the past week from her friend and with another smile, she said, "Oh, hi Fred!"
