Chapter 20

Honey sat in an abandoned hallway just a few weeks after the first DA meeting. It was wonderful to have something to go to every week regardless of the meetings being incredibly unpredictable - it was exciting. She had asked Harry just a week ago if it was okay for her other friends to join and he was very on board with the whole ordeal, which is what brought her three closest friends - excluding Dana, of course - to the next meeting.

She felt like she was learning a lot. She was never good at defence, it wasn't a subject she felt was needed until last year, but it seemed almost too late for her to pick up speed on something that had once been too much for her. In fact, she learnt more in a few weeks than she did all of her years and it seemed like an impossible achievement.

Her legs spread over the boy who she seemed to be spending a lot more time with, alone. Fred had left George when he was chatting up some girl in Ravenclaw, chatting nonsense about how Fred wasn't getting a girlfriend before him and he still had until Christmas until it was official - that didn't bother Fred one bit, he was rather happy to have some alone time with Honey.

Honey was twiddling the galleon she had gotten from the DA meeting in her hand. It had previously been in her pocket as it always was, and she had to always remember to keep it close to her just in case it started heating up to indicate a change of meeting day, but for the last week, it had been the same.

"What are we?" Honey soon blurted out in the quiet hallway, they had merely been enjoying each other's company regardless of talking. She didn't like to ask that question, well she didn't want to and had never had to ask it before, but she was confused and curious and Fred was caught entirely off guard, "because I like you."

"I think that much is clear," Fred snorted, leaning over and taking Honey's hand and she flipped him off with her free hand, "what do you want us to be Honey?"

"No, you can't use that. I asked you because I don't know what you want us to be!" she exclaimed, "you can't use my words against me, that's not fair!"

"Well I know that I like you and that I'm falling even harder every day," he started, tightening his grip on her hand, "I know that there's no other person in this entire world that I want to be with but you. I know that I want to show you off as the person who has my heart. I know I want you, a lot, I want you so badly I can't think straight sometimes. But I also know that I want you so much that I'm willing to wait for as long as it takes until I can finally get you if that's Christmas or a billion years I would wait every second for you."

Her lips parted. She didn't quite know what to say to that, she could feel the heat rising to her cheeks and the smile on her lips before she could process every word he had said and she wanted him more then than she ever had, "I didn't take you as a romantic, Fred Weasley."

"I think it must be your effect on me," he smirked, bringing her hand to his lips and kissing it, "Honey Hughes."

"Imagine that," she hummed, "prankster, jokester, class clown Fred Weasley is a hopeless romantic. Who woulda thought?"

He moved to push himself up and Honey lurched forward, pushing him back down and furiously shouting that she was just kidding, to which he smirked, "I'm kidding, I'm kidding I promise!"

"Maybe I am a romantic." He shrugged, dragging his hand through his red hair, "it just helped me get the most wonderful girl I've ever met."

"Oh?" she said, "who?"

"I think you know her," he mused, pulling on her hand. Neither of them meant for her to end up in his lap but when he pulled her, it just sort of...happened, and she made no attempts to move. In fact, she much preferred being closer to him, and his lips seemed more inviting.
