Charlotte's POV

Nico and Bianca were really cool when I met them. Nico was geeky and he embraced it and Bianca was a great older sister and leader.

But after we had finished the quest and had to go back, I didn't want to be the one to break it to Nico about Bianca. The night before her death, she was humming something and I couldn't help but ask her what it was.

"A little lullaby for Nico. I would always sing it to him," she said simply. "Could you sing it again? I wanna hear it," I chuckled. "Sure. Excuse my singing," she chuckled. "It's terrible," she added. "I don't mind," I smiled.

She had finished and I couldn't help but wipe a tear away. I'm not joking.

I smiled. "Your voice is beautiful Bianca," I stated, kindly. She blushed lightly, seeming embarrassed. She carefully scratched the back of her neck, nervously.

"Oh, thank you," she chuckled. "I bet Nico loves that song," I said. "I bet," she repeated, looking at the distance. "I bet," she repeated again, softly.

I sat up with a start. I was back in Cabin 3, Percy drooling on his pillow on the bed next to mine. Neither Percy nor I had told Nico yet, and it was killing me. It had been yesterday when we returned to Camp. We told everyone to keep Nico busy, so we could have time to prepare.

I was scared, I really liked Nico and hoped we could stay friends. But he's going to hate Percy and I, and all of those small moments between Nico and I would have gone to waste.

Like the time he explained Mythomagic Cards to me and he had really bonded with me. I sighed, rubbing my eyes.

I have to tell him tomorrow... If I wait, he'll hate me more.

I laid back down, bringing the blanket up to my chest. I closed my eyes and succeeded in sleeping peacefully, for once.

The next morning, my stomach was killing me, I was super nervous. I couldn't even eat breakfast.

"Charlotte, you gotta eat!" Annabeth scolded. "I can't Annabeth... I'm too nervous!" I said back. She huffed, going back to eat her breakfast.

I sighed. "Nico..." I whispered. "Hi Charlie!" Nico laughed. "Hey Nico..." I smiled softly. "You okay?" he asked. "I'm fine..." I assured him. "Hey do you know where B-" Nico began. "Before you ask, I wanna tell you something," I cut him off, quickly. "Oh yeah, sure Charlie," he smiled.

I grabbed his hand and led him to the beach. "So, uh, Nico... The prophecy had said some really weird things. Like 'One shall perish by a parent's hand'..." I had a flashback of Zoë getting thrown against the wall. "Yeah..." Nico said, unsure of where this was going. "You're gonna hate me. And I'm sorry... I broke our promise. I know you won't forgive Percy and I, but just know... she's a hero," I said, tears streaming down my face.

"No... No! You promised! How could you?!" he threw my hand back and started walking away. "Nico! Let me explain!" I yelled. "What could you possibly have to say!" he turned around quickly. "She sacrificed herself to save us. She saved all of us! And holding grudges won't help take care of her legacy. We want a happy memory for her death! Not have it based on some grudge, Nico!" I huffed, tears still running.

Nico, huffed but fell to the floor, crying. I walked over and knelt on the floor, beside him. "I'm sorry, Neeks. I broke our promise," I sighed, hugging him tightly. "I'm sorry Nico," I said again.

He cried on my shoulder, murmuring Bianca's name.

"Tu sei il mio soldatino, la ragione ho vissuto. Non ti scordar di me, io vegliero su di te," I sang softly. He hugged me tighter. "Mi dispiace," he whispered. "It's okay Neeks," I chuckled softly. "Don't call me Neeks," he huffed playfully.

(Translation)
-You're my little soldier, the reason I lived. Don't forget me, I'm watching over you

-I'm sorry

"Thank you," Nico's lips curved upwards into a small smile. "No problem," I said kissing the top of his head.

"We're still sorry Nico. About everything... I hope you don't forget that," I said softly. "I'll try, Charlie. I'll try," he said back. We sat at the edge of the beach until Percy yelled at me, through our twin empathy link, to get my butt back to the cabins. But, he let Nico stay in our cabin for the night, so the rest of the day was fun. Thank the gods Nico didn't do something he'd regret...

Let's just say, I'm glad he's my best friend.
