St. Scholastica was St. Benedict's (Chapter 9) twin sister and did a lot of what he did. After Benedict left, she founded and governed a monastery of nuns about 5 miles from Benedict. It could also have been governed by Benedict.
Scholastica visited Benedict once a year but wasn't allowed to enter his monastery. He would visit her in a house a little bit away from it. They would usually talk about spiritual things and pray while they were together.
Once, Scholastica begged her brother to remain until the next day. Benedict refused to spend the night outside his monastery and so she prayed extremely hard and a furious thunderstorm erupted to the point where Benedict or his companions could go back. The next morning, they parted and Scholastica died three days later. Benedict had a vision of seeing his sister's soul ascend into heaven. He send his companions to bring her body and lay it in the tomb he prepared to give himself.
Scholastica left behind an order of Benedictine nuns that you can still join today.
