~Your POV~

"We're here!"

"Jefferson! Where have you been!? Hamilton has a new financial plan, and it's nothing but government control! You gotta help me fight for the south!" A man runs up to Thomas before going into a coughing fit.

"Ah, James, how've you been?"

"He doesn't seem alright, he seems sick, Thomas."

"Oh, hello there. My apologies, I'm James Madison. Who are you?"

"Y/n. Y/n L/n."

"Beautiful name. Your name was in the papers a few years ago, wasn't it?"

"I'd prefer not to speak about that."

"As you wish. Are you and Thomas close?"

"You could say that. We were on the same ship to America, and she lives with me in Monticello."

"Oh. I see. You guys didn't do anything naughty, now did you?"

"No, I would never. I wish to be married before anything like that happens."

"A fine young lady you have found yourself, Thomas."

"Thank you. What'd I miss, James?"

"Just Hamilton destroying Congress."

"Hamilton? As in Alexander Hamilton?" I gasp.

"Yes. Why, do you know him?"

"I used to. He and I were close before I went to Britain."

"Oh, well this might be awkward. I may or may not hate Hamilton."

"Oh, it's fine. He's been an idiot to me before, pardon my language."

"The language is none of your concern. We've both heard worse." Thomas chuckles.

I nod. "We should get going. The cabinet meeting starts soon."

"Y/n is right. Let's go, James. We'll walk with you."

Thomas, James, and I walk to the building where the cabinet meetings take place. We are greeted by a tall, bald man.

"Greetings, Secretary Jefferson. Greetings, Mr. Madison. Who may this young lady be?"

"She's a friend I met while overseas. Her name is Y/n. She lives with me in Monticello."

"Oh, nice to meet you, Miss..."

"L/n."

"Ah, yes, Miss L/n. I'm awfully sorry to hear about what happened with your family years ago."

"The past is not important, sir."

"I see, a strong woman you have found, Thomas. Take good care of her."

"I will, Mr. Washington."

We take our seats. I'm next to Thomas. Thomas is next to James. I look around the room. Aaron is sitting in the back.

"Thomas, I see some friends."

"Go, say hi to them, just don't take too long, the meeting will be starting soon."

"Thank you!" I whisper as a response.

I walk up to Aaron. "How've you been, old friend?"

Aaron looks up from his book. His eyes light up.

"Y/n! How've you been? Did the king treat you well? Why are you here?"

"I'm doing fine. The king was very nice, and I'm a guest of Thomas."
