~Your POV~
"Alexander? Are you here?" I knock on the door.
No answer. I sigh, taking out my spare key to his house, opening the front door.
"Alexander, are you in there?" I call out.
I see him asleep, on the couch.
"Oh... Makes sense."
There are tons of papers in the living room. A few bottles of ink are spilled on the floor. I can see a few quills, too. I sigh, grabbing a spray bottle and a towel, wiping away the ink stains.
"Y/n...?" I hear.
"Alexander, you're awake! My apologies for barging into your house, you didn't open the door and I got worried."
"Oh, that's perfectly fine. What brings you here, anyways?"
"I wanted to see how you were fending, seeing how Eliza went upstate."
"Ah, yes. I'm alright. A bit tired. I don't sleep much anymore, too much work to do."
"Alexander, please stop doing work for a bit. How about you and I grab a bite at a cafe? I'll get Hercules, and you two can go to the bar. Please, just don't stay cooped up. It's not healthy."
"Y/n-"
"No, you are going out to do something, and that's final. Otherwise, I'll get Thomas to annoy you."
"Okay, okay! I'm up!"
There's a knock on the door. Alex gets up to answer it.
"I know you are a man of honor. I'm so sorry to bother you at home, but I don't know where to go, and I came here all alone. My husband's doin' me wrong, beatin' me, cheatin' me, mistreatin' me. Suddenly he's up and gone; I don't have the means to go on."
I look at Alex, he shrugs.
"Do you need money? How about I walk you home?"
"You're too kind, sir."
I almost gagged at her response. Alex took out a twenty dollar bill and two fives and told her that he's walking her home. I roll my eyes at Alex and secretly decide to follow him.
I can hear them from my spot in the tree. "This one's mine, sir."
"Well, I should go."
I hear the closing of a door, and jump into a different tree, careful not to rip my dress. The woman drags Alex to her bedroom.
"That dirty liar." I grit my teeth.
I see her pulling Alex towards her. I hop onto another tree, close to her balcony, and jump onto it. I pick the lock with my bobby pin and rush over to Alex, before the woman can do anything.
"Get away from him!"
"Where'd you come from!?" The woman spat.
"Y/n!" Alex grabs onto my dress.
"I'd prefer if you didn't try anything with my friend over here."
"You didn't answer my question."
"Go ask Herc." I mumbled to Alex.
He chuckles in response. The woman, known as Maria, ushered me out of the house. Alex followed me out.
"Thanks."
"No problem. I wouldn't want Eliza's heart to be broken anytime soon. Or at all."
"Heh, yeah. She's scary when she's mad. Like that time I flirted with Angelica just to tease her."
"You did WHAT!?"
"It was just a joke. I didn't mean it like that."
"You're horrible sometimes... I'm staying with you for the time being. Don't want that girl coming back."
I felt something good. Like I saved a life. But, of course, I didn't. No one would've died- if Alex took it too far, a baby could've happened. I may have just saved Alex's life. Eliza would've murdered him if he had a child without her. Yep, I'm a life saver.
"Fine, fine. Just don't tell Liza or the kids about it, alright?"
"Nothing happened, so why not? You annoyed that I saved your butt?" I laugh.
"You sound like Jeffershit."
"Yeah, I've been spending too much time with him..."
"At least you admit it."
I roll my eyes.
"So does that count as 'going out'?"
"No. Let's go to Herc."
"Wahhhhhhh."
He groans, following me out the door to Herc's shop.
When we get there, Herc is sitting behind the cashier, half awake.
"Herc!"
His eyes light up when he sees Alex and I. "Alex! Y/n! It's been so long!"
"Yeah. Alex has been too cooped up, and I've been in Britain."
"Hey, Y/n, could you be my new model? My last one quit..."
"And why was that?"
"Because I flirted with her?"
"Oh my gosh, you two and your problems with flirting!"
"Sorry!" They both squeak.
"Wait, how does Alex have a flirting problem?"
I smirk at Alex. "He flirted with Angelica to make Liza jealous. And the today, he-"
"-Did Nothing!"
I laugh at Alex and mouth to Herc, I'll explain later. He nods.
"Anyways, what about me being a model for you?"
"For my dresses, I need someone to try them on. I'll pay you each week, I promise."
"How much?"
"A week?" I nod. "Would an Alex be good?"
"Yep."
Alex stares at us, confused.
"Ten dollars, idiot." Herc explains to the confused Caribbean man.
"Ohhhhh..."
"Alright, I'll take the job. What are my hours?"
"Nine to five."
"Okay, everyday?"
"Weekends you get off. You start tomorrow."
"Great. See you then."
Herc nods.
"Now, please go to the bar with Alex. If he is inside anymore, he will lose all social skills."
"No!" Alex pouts at me.
"Sure."
I watch as Herc drags Alex out of his shop and to the bar.
