~Your POV~
As my foot landed on the wooden dock, I remembered why I loved America so much. And no, not just a because of me being seasick. The air felt free and clean. Britain had more polluted air.
"Hey guys, I'm gonna see Laf, I'll meet you back at Monticello?"
"Yep! Just don't be late!" Thomas laughs.
I walk towards Mercer Street and knock on Laf's front door. He opens the door. He looks like he hadn't slept in a while. There are bags under his beautiful eyes, and his expression has lost emotion.
"Y/n?" He wonders out loud.
"Laf! You look like a zombie!" I scold him.
"This isn't a dream?"
I pinched him. "No, dummy, I'm real."
He lets me inside and the shuts the door. He runs up to me and gives me a hug. I kiss his cheek.
"'Ow much I've missed you, Y/n. I 'aven't slept for weeks! I felt like Alexander!"
I chuckle at his comment on Alex. "Has he been sleeping?"
"Non, 'is wife and children went upstate. 'E decided to stay 'ere for some reason."
I shrug and tilt Laf's head down a bit, so we could kiss. He leans in until our lips touch. The kiss was long. After we pulled away, we were both gasping for breath.
"Laf, let's get to sleep. You must be horribly tired. I'll sleep next to you, just please get some rest! I can see how tired you are."
He opened his mouth to protest but noticed that he was too tired and shut it. We walked to his bedroom and laid down together. I closed my eyes, feeling his arms wrap around me. It's been too long. Way too long, I think to myself, smiling.
~Thomas' POV~
It's been three hours! Where in hell is Y/n!?
"James, I'm looking for Y/n. It's been three hours. I'm not waiting any longer."
James nodded, following me out the door and into a carriage.
A few hours later we got in New York. We first ran over to Laf's house. We knocked, but no one answered. Where is Laf? We ran over to Aaron Burr's house next. I know that those two are close.
"Burr! Open up!"
He opens the door. "It's the middle of the night. What do you want?" He rubs his eyes.
"Where's Y/n!?"
"At Laf's house...?"
"No she's not! No one answered the door!"
"I have a spare key, give me a bit."
"Aaron, who's this?" I hear a feminine voice ask.
"Theo, it's someone from work. It's regarding Y/n."
"Oh, okay. I haven't met her, yet, have I?"
"No. She doesn't know that we're married."
"Aaron!"
"Sorry!" He walks back to James and I with a key. "Let's go."
We go back to Laf's house, and Burr opens the door. We all walk in. I light a candle to see. No one's on the couch or in the kitchen.
"I swear if they're sleeping together again..." Burr muttered under his breath.
"What?" James asked.
"Nothing!"
"He said something about Laf and Y/n sleeping together." I told James.
Burr shot me a glare. I flinched. We walk to Laf's bedroom. I can't believe my eyes. I cover James'. Y/n. And. Laf. In. The. Same. Bed. With. His. Arms. Around. Her.
"Thomas, don't interfere. This is normal for them." Burr whispers. "Laf and I will just have a long talk afterwards."
I chuckle slightly.
"Thomas, we found Y/n. It's all fine. How about we go back to Monticello? And Mr. Burr, thank you for the help."
"Anytime." He nods us off.
"Oh, Burr?" I walked back to him. "Y/n didn't tell you about anything that happened, right?"
"No... What happened?"
"I may or may not have proposed to Y/n..." I squeak quietly.
I take James' hand and run out the door to the closest carriage. I can hear Burr chasing after us.
"Monticello, please!" I tell the carriage driver.
He nods. "Hop in."
