"Just walk to me, I promise you won't get hurt." He said, his voice being the only comfort in this situation. I did as he said and took a step on the ladder. As I looked down into the pool ahead of me I kept telling myself I'd be ok. Luke was right in front of me by the ladder. If anything happened he'd protect me right?
I took another step on the ladder and felt the water creep up my ankle. I don't know if the fact that I was actually touching the water in the pool was scarier, or the fact that it was cold. I backed up out of the pool and sat on the deck. "I can't do it Luke I'm sorry." I said and hugged my knees. He swam over to the ladder making it look extremely easy. He sighed and held his arms up to grab the sides. He leaned up resting on his elbows. "I know you can. Just don't think about it, I'll be right here," and for some reason that made me want to get back into the water again.
