Ch. 17 Bike Riding 101

Sofia POV
So far daddy and Aunt Kirstie have been going on dates for a while now. To be honest, I miss being with my dad, but I'm glad they are together. I want to go on a date with him. I went downstairs to talk to him.

Avi: Hey, little dragon. What's up?
Sofia: Where's daddy Uncle Avi?
Avi: He's in the backyard.
Sofia: Okay.

I went outside and I found him.

Kevin: Hey, sweetheart.
Sofia: Daddy, I want to go on a date.

Kevin POV
I get scared immediately.

Kevin: Woah. You're not allowed to go on a date till you're 30.
Sofia: Not with a boy. With you. Boys are yucky.

Thank God.

Sofia POV
Sofia: I would never go out with a boy.
Kevin: Okay. You scared me for a second. Why do you want to go on a date with me?
Sofia: I just wanna see you and Aunt Kirstie do and I want to spend time with you.

Then, he picks me up.

Kevin: Okay, how about this we'll have a day full of fun tomorrow. Just me and you. Deal?
Sofia: Deal.

I give him a hug and he kisses me on my cheek. I look over at my bike.

Sofia: Daddy, can you teach me how to ride my bike?
Kevin: Yeah. Want Avi to come too?
Sofia: Yeah. I'll go get him.

I run inside and get Uncle Avi and I see everyone else there. So we all went outside.

Avi: What are we doing?
Kevin: We are gonna teach Sofia how to ride a bike?
Scott: OMG! How exciting.
Kirstin: Are you nervous?
Sofia: A little. What if I fall and hurt myself?
Mitch: Oh sweetheart, it's gonna be okay.
Kevin: Yeah. I'll be there to catch you.
Avi: First things first, safety.

So I put on my helmet, knee pads, and elbow pads.

Mitch: OMG! You look so adorable.
Sofia: Thanks. This feels weird.
Scott: I know, but it's safety so you don't hurt yourself.

So we went to the sidewalk in front of the house. Scott and Avi went a few feet away from me. I'm on my bike and daddy is beside me. Daddy told me where the brakes were at and how they work and how to work the handles.

Kevin: Okay start pedaling.

I began to pedal and move. Daddy is holding to the back of the bike, helping me move and not fall.

Kevin: You're doing good.
Mitch: Yass, get it Sofia!

Auntie Mitch and Aunt Kirstie were filming us.

Kevin: Okay. I'm gonna let go.

So daddy let's me go and I'm pedaling by myself.

Kevin: That's it Sofia. You got it.
Avi: Yeah.
Kevin: Okay, hit the brakes.

I hit the brakes and I fall off the bike. I think daddy forgot to tell me another part of riding a bike. Everyone runs to see if I'm okay.

Kirstin: OMG! Are you okay?
Sofia: I'm okay.
Kevin: You didn't hurt yourself?
Sofia: Nope daddy. I'm fine.
Kevin: Hey, you did great.
Sofia: Thanks daddy.
Mitch: Kirstie and I got it on film.
Sofia: Can I see?
Mitch: Sure.

Auntie Mitch shows me the video.

Sofia: OMG! I did better than I thought I would.
Kevin: Yeah. I'm so proud of you. I can't believe that you're growing up.

I see daddy tear up a bit. I went and hugged him.

Sofia: Don't cry daddy.
Kevin: Okay. Love you Sofia.
Sofia: Love you too.
Scott: How about we treat you to some ice cream?
Sofia: Yay!

So I took of my gear and we all went to get ice cream that wasn't far from the house.

Kevin: What flavor do you want?
Sofia: Hmmmm. I'll take cookies and cream.
Kevin: Okay.

So we got our ice cream and sat down and ate it. I can't believe I leaned how to ride a bike. Best day ever.
