The Lab Two more days passed Before I thought to check the lab for you. Were could you possibly be imprisoned As a test subject? My heart broke at the thought Of them sticking tubes in your body Pouring vials of vulgar liquid down your throat, Sticking you with needles filled with Antidotes that failed Time and time again.
I knew they failed because Not once had any patient who was Wheeled behind those doors Ever returned alive.
And so, During the day I would lay behind the glass, Faking a sickness That everyone but the doctors and I Seemingly had, And at night I left my prison To search once more For you.
The lights were off When I sprinted down the hall, Silent and unseen, Almost like a ghost.
The lab's lights were not turned off, But there was an ID scanner next to the door, And I knew if I tried to walk in without an ID card, I would be captured And all these horrible days and nights Spent in the quarantine Would be for nothing.
