The Way She Smiled It was late into the night's journey O, night divine, The long, drifting hours When the sun slept And the moon prowled outside the lab's windows That I finally managed to stand from the bed I had been so cruelly strapped into. I would have escaped through one of said windows, Had there not been thick metal bars over them.
There was no escaping from the lab. Maybe there was the false hope of those windows, But they brought forth no freedom.
I was trapped; I knew this all too well.
Yet I still found myself planning a diversion for my escape.
I could still hear your voice in my head, Hope. You whispered encouragement to me, Reminded me of the happy memories we'd made Whilst sitting on the little green bench Beneath our tree In that wondrous park Where we first met.
I saw you in my dreams, too. You would smile at me... Oh, The way you smiled.
I loved that smile; It looked so wonderful on you. I missed it dearly.
It was that smile That kept me going It was that smile That motivated me It was that smile That kept me alive.
