World Gone Mad
We had been separated yet again.
Once they had sealed me away
In the back of that black metal truck
And I realized I had no way to escape,
I lost the will to fight.

I had no idea where I was going,
Nor did I care anymore.

They had taken you away from me twice now;
I felt as if my world were falling apart
Crumbling in my hands,
Bits and pieces falling through my fingers
You among them.

I
Was
Alone.

I closed my eyes
And tried to pretend I was back at the park,
Sitting on the green bench
Underneath our tree
Holding your hand.

I tried to pretend that you weren't sick
That you weren't on the verge of death
And there was nothing I could do about it.

I tried to pretend I was happy
Or at least, not in the hopeless mood I was fighting off now
But nothing I seemed to come up with
Actually worked.

I was simply lost without you.

The world had gone mad
...Or maybe that was just me.
