Asiya

"Mama food is ready!" I yelled from the kitchen. I had just finished cooking breakfast which consisted of waffle and blueberry syrup with some oats.

Mama came sauntering down the stairs wearing her royal blue boubou with a white scarf tied around her head. She still looked really pale and disturbed from what happened five months ago.

If you must be wondering, my name is Asiya Yusuf Buhari, I'm 22years old. Of course I live with my family but unfortunately my Father passed away five months ago due to a sudden cardiac arrest. My older sister, Rahma(Adda) got married about two years back and has a little adorable daughter, Afnan. My older brother Ya Sadiq works in CBN (Centarl Bank Of Nigeria) He's a director there. I just recently graduated university and I'm trying to start my fashion line.

_____________

"Ya Sadiq, can you drop me off at Srahy?" I asked as i saw him getting up to leave.

"Get ready then and be fast about it," Ya Sadiq hated his time being wasted i tell you.

"Okay," I answered and ran upstairs. I quickly grabbed my black pearled veil and wrapped it around my head. I adjusted my navy blue maxi dress and grabbed my iPhone 7+.

"I'm here," I informed.

"You are 3.21 seconds late,"

"Kaii Ya Sadiq, you never miss a chance to tease me wallahi," i chuckled as he gave me a brief side hug. We all love each other so mich in this family and i think baba's death brought us closer.

We talked about random things as he drove. After a few minutes we arrived at Srahy If you are wondering, Srahy is the two flat estate my dad gave me before he passed on. I collect rent from both tenants every month. Baba made sure he kept an asset for each of us. He gave Ya Sadiq a filing station and Adda a jewelry company.

"I'll pick you up on my way back home from the office," he said.

"No pick me up from Halima's place, I'll go there from here,"

"Ok bye be safe baby girl," he smiled and zoomed off.

I knocked on the first flat which a young man lived. Khalid Ibrahim.

"Oh hello maam, come in," he ushered me in as i sat on the couch.

"Good morning," i greeted. Since he's older than me.

"Morning,"

He looked spicy OMG. He was wearing a black T shirt and Grey sweatpants. His hair was all messy which signified he'd just woken up.
Argh I need to stop checking him out.

"Umm any problem with the house?" I asked as i got up to walk around,"

"No no problem," he replied.

"Why is this wall cracked?" I asked pointing to it.

"Bansan yadda akayi ba (i don't know how) i went to London for two weeks and when I returned few days ago i noticed it,"

"Oh fine, so about this months payment,"

"I will transfer it to you just now," he quickly brought out his iPhone X and did the transfer. In no time i got the alert. I wondered why a wealthy young boy would rent a house when he could afford something better.

"Umm i wanted to talk to you," he said nervously.

"Erh...i will be vacating the house next week Tuesday. My family is moving back here from Maiduguri so I'm moving in with them,"

"Oh okay. But you know the conditions right?"

"Yeah i have to get a mew tenant. Don't worry there's a relative of mine i talked to but he asked if you could reduce 50k from the 500,"

"Well, i can remove 30 but I'm sorry 50 is way too much!" I said sternly.

"Okay that's fine thank you,"

"You're welcome, I'll take my leave now," i said and turned to go to the other house. It was a complete family that lived there. A couple and their two kids. They begged me for a week before they paid and i gave them knowing things are hard now.

As i was leaving, I opened the pedestrian door to stop a Keke Napep(Rickshaw).

Suddenly Khalid came from the main gate with his Mercedes Benz. He looked extremely dashing with his dark Aldo shades on.
He whined the glass down and popped his head out a little to talk to me.

"Where you off to?" He asked. That was even when I realized he had a slight British accent.

"My friends place," i replied not even bothering to look at him.

"I don't think it's safe for you to stop a napep. You know all these men. Afterall taking advantage of beautiful ladies like you have become their job," he said and i couldn't help but chuckle.

"Come on in," he motioned to the passenger sit beside him.

I walked to it and i heard him unlock the door as I entered slowly.

"Do you even know where I'm going?"

"No, where?" he laughed slightly.

"Zone 3," I answered.

"Okay then good thing its on my way," he said letting out a sigh.

The ride to zone 3 was quite silent. Ni convos, nothing!

Suddenly the stupid default iPhone ringtone broke the defeaning silence.

"Oh you use an iPhone too?" He asked and i ignored amd just answered the call.

"Hello Mama," i called out immediately.
........
"Okay toh gani nan zuwa,"

Mama had just summoned me back home immediately and we were already almost at Halima's area.

"Umm my mum just summoned me back home, i-" he cut me off before i could even finish ff my sentence.

"I'll take you to zone 3 and you trek home," I turned and shot him a glare.

"Just kidding, where's your house?"

"Asokoro," i answered irritated. He was lucky he was already leaving the house otherwise I would've thrown him out.

"What part?"

"Where all those ambassadors stay" i replied. He silently drove off andon no time, i got home.

I quickly ran inside and went upstairs to mama's living room.

"Mama gani na dawo( Mum i'm back),"

"Asiya Yusuf Buhari..." she paused. Okay this is a serious issue.

"You're getting married in three weeks. No ifs no buts!"

Oh my nuts!!!!!!! No wayyyy!!!!!! To who? I haven't fallen in love yet. I just stood there with my eyes popped out as if they were about to fall.
