chap 9 ; i ruined her

wait.

after all this time.

the problem was about me?

it was about me all along but i didn't notice.

i'm such a bad bestfriend.

me - "jane. what did i do to make you feel this way?"

she keeps her head down focusing on the bed sheets

jane - "i'm in love with you jake. and you were stupid enough not to notice it. and here you are, looking happy with someone else. and i'm here, well..... wrecked" she says calmly but keeping her head down

me - "jane. i'm sorry, i an really stupid. after all these years, i didn't notice. i didn't notice at all. i'm so sorry jane. i feel like a total jackass"

i hug her tightly leaving my chin on her head.

but after a few minutes.

jane releases am looks deep into my eyes.

jane - "no jake. it's okay. lora seems like a really nice girl. go on your date, i'll be fine. and besides, i have kayjake" she smiles at me but i know it's fake by the way she does it.

me - "but jane i can st-"

jane cuts me off.

jane - "no jake. go. as i said i'll be fine" there she goes again with the fake smile

me - "okay. i'll go change. call me if you need anything"

i got up and got the outfit i'm going to wear on my date.

after changing, i come out of the restroom and see that jane is not inside the room.

i walk outside the bedroom and find jane sitting on the couch and kayjake on her lap sleeping.

she turns her head but quickly turns her head again facing the tv.

i walked over to her and sat next to her.

me - "jane. i could stop the date. i hate seeing you like this, especially since it's about me"

jane - "jake no. i'm not going to stop you from being happy. seeing you happy brings me joy, even though i'm not a part of your happiness"

she looks down at kayjake and pets him

i lift her head with my thumb

me - "what are you talking about jane? you've been my happiness before i even met lora. you're my bestfriend"

she does a smile.

a real one.

i smile too.

jane - "thanks, that brightens up my mood a lil. now go on your date or you'll be late"

i just stare at her making sure she want's me to go

jane - "go jake. i told you i'll be fine"

she pushes me lightly.

i get off the couch and face her.

me - "i'll be home before 10. okay?"

jane - "okay"

i bend down and kiss her forehead.

i slowly walk to the door.

once i reached it, i look back at jane who is still watching tv.

i walk out and close the door behind me.

i ruined her.

i can't believe i ruined her.
