Millie's POV

Today is the day. The day I leave for Atlanta. I really don't want to leave Maddie and Lilia, but I'm excited to get a new start. Away from Iris and Romeo, and everyone else who makes fun of me. I can't imagine how hard it's gonna be to say goodbye to Maddie and Lilia.

We are just moving into an apartment, but Dad, Charlie, Paige, and Ava are staying here, so we didn't have to pack up everything in the house. We are gonna try to come visit occasionally.

"Millie, honey!" My mom calls.

"I'll be right down!" I say, coughing a bit. As I grab my two boxes, I run into the door frame on my bruised arm. "Owwwwww." I say, sucking in a sharp breath of air.

"You alright honey?" My mom asks.

"Yeah, I just hit my bruise." I say. She nods.

"Bye Avs. Bye Charlie. Bye Paige." I say, hugging them each for a pretty long time.

"Why do you have to go Millie?" Ava asks.

"I'm sorry Ava. It's the only way I can get better." I say, rubbing her arm.

"I love you." She says, giving me a really tight hug.

"I love you too." I say, smiling. "Bye guys. I love you." I tell Charlie and Paige.

"We'll miss you." Paige tells me.

"You too." I say, smiling through the tears.

"Millie, I love you so much. I can't believe you're leaving." Lilia says, crying into my shoulder.

"It's gonna be so hard without you here." Maddie begins crying. Both of my best friends are sobbing now, causing me to do the same.

"Guys, I'll call you on houseparty all the time." I tell them, wiping my tears.

"Promise?" Lilia says.

"Promise."

Both of them hug me at the same time, leaving my shoulders soaking wet with their tears. I don't care though because I'm doing the same thing to them.

"I'll text you guys when I land." I say, smiling.

"Okay." Lilia says, trying to smile.

"Cancer is a bitch. Go kick it's ass." Maddie says, hugging me one last time. All of us begin to laugh.

"I'm gonna miss this so much." I say, wiping my tears away.

"What?"

"Us. Our weird, deep talks about boys and other crap that doesn't matter, but we like talking about." I explain.

"Me too." Maddie and Lilia both say, smiling.

"Come on Millster. We need to get going." My mom calls. We all break down in tears and hug.

"Bye guys." I say, walking away, leaving my best friends sobbing.

"How ya doin'?" My mom asks.

"Well, I have cancer and I just had to say bye to my family and my best friends EVER. So pretty great." I reply.

"Sorry hun. I'd rather you leave your friends, and not die, then die just to stay with your friends." I nod, but begin to cry. "What's wrong baby?"

"The fact that dying is even a possibility, just-" I can't finish my sentence because I just break down in tears.

"I'm so sorry, Millie."

"It's fine. It's not like you can do anything about it." I reply.
