Millie's POV

I wake up on Saturday morning. The first thing I do, is go to the bathroom and brush my teeth. Then I put on my glasses and walk downstairs. No need to wear my wig since I’m not going to school today, but I will be wearing it at the winter ball.

“Goodmorning, Millie!” My mom smiles.

“Morning.” I smile back. Not super broadly because I am not a morning person. My mom on the other hand is. She has woken me up multiple times by song. I may have slapped her in the face on accident in response.

“You ready for the winter ball tonight?” My mom asks.

“Yep.” I say. She places down 3 pancakes in front of me and I eat them in like 10 minutes. I’m so hungry.

-

Around 2:00, Sadie and Lizzy come over to do hair and makeup and all that jazz. The dance is at 6:00 so we have plenty of time.

Ding dong

“I’ll get it!” I shout, as I run down the stairs. I open the door to a very smiley Sadie and Lizzy. Lizzy has her curling iron and Sadie has her makeup. They both have their dresses obviously.

“Hey, Millie!” Lizzy smiles.

“Hi!” I say, returning the smile.

“You ready?” Sadie says, holding up the makeup.

“Hell yes. Let’s go.” I say, leading them upstairs. We set all the stuff down on my vanity. Lizzy is the first one to sit down. Sadie starts to curl her hair as we begin to talk about just life.

“So did you guys know about Finn’s band?” I ask.

“I didn’t.” Lizzy says, looking a bit shocked.

“Most of the people who were here last year know. They played at homecoming last year. They would’ve played at the winter ball, but it’s strictly for juniors and seniors.” Sadie says, as she lets out a curl in Lizzy’s hair. I nod.

“So why doesn’t he hang out with them too?” I ask.

“None of them have the same schedule as him. They don’t even have the same lunch. They hang out all the time outside of school though to practice and stuff.” She says. I nod. “You’re lucky that you got your best friend in all your classes. You’re only in one of mine. Lucky for me I have Lizzy in all my classes.”

“Yeah.” I agree, with a sigh.

“I’m really glad that I got assigned to be your buddy, because I literally knew nobody.” Lizzy laughs.

“Well you’re gonna get to know gaten pretty well.” Sadie smirks. Lizzy blushes and continues to talk.

“Okay, wait, how do you guys know he likes me?”

“One, he asked you to the winter ball.” I say.

“It could have been just as friends.” Lizzy replies.

“No. Guys specify when they wanna go as friends and he didn’t say that. For instance, when Finn asked Millie, he confirmed, as friends.” Sadie says. I nod in agreement.

“And two, the first day you came, when Sadie brought you to the lunch table, gaten couldn’t keep his eyes off of you.” I explain.

“What do you mean?” They were practically heart eyes, Liz.” Sadie smiles.

“Are you serious?” Lizzy squeals.

“Completely serious.”

-

I put on my wig, and we are ready to go.

“WAIT SOMEONE ZIP ME UP!” Sadie says. Well, almost ready. I zip up her dress and we look in the mirror.

“We look hot!” I say, causing Sadie and Lizzy to laugh. Suddenly we hear the doorbell ring from downstairs.

“Let’s go!” Lizzy says, opening my door and walking downstairs. We come downstairs to see all the boys, standing there in their suits.

“Wow, you guys look-” Caleb begins.

“Wow.” Gaten says, his eyes landing on Lizzy. Lizzy smiles and blushes.

“You look great.” Finn smiles as I make my way down to him.

“Thanks. You too.” I smile back.

“You look great, Noah!” Noah says to himself.

“Here, I think this is where this goes.” He says, pulling out a purple corsage and placing it on my wrist.

“Picture picture!” My mom says, pulling out her phone. We all stand in a line and smile. “Ok goofy one!” She says. We all make some weird face, or movement with our bodies. Noah hugs himself.

I kinda hope someone asks him to dance tonight. I feel so bad leaving him all alone.

Once she takes the picture, we head out to the limo.

-

We pull into the parking lot and go inside. The ballroom is crazy decorated. When you look up to the ceiling there are light blue, dark blue, and white streamers, draped across the top; along with balloons, and a ton of other decorations. At the front entrance of the room there is a giant sign made with huge silver letters that reads ‘Snowball.’

“LET’S PARTY!” Noah yells over the music.

“WOOHOO!” We all cheer, going to the middle of the dance floor.

After a while of partying, we all go stand on the side of the room, while more songs play.

“I’m gonna go to the bathroom.” I say to the group. They all nod and proceed to talk. I push through the crowd to go to the bathroom.

As soon as I come out of the stall, there is a group of girls surrounding me.

“Uh, hi?”

“Hey, cancer girl.”  The taller girl says. That is heather.

“How are you feeling?” One of the others fake pouts. Karen. Bitch.

“I’m actually doing great. Thanks for asking.” I say giving a fake smile. “Now if you’ll excuse me, I need to wash my hands.” I say, whilst pushing them out of the way.

“I have a question for you.” The last girl says. Abby.

“And what is that?”

“Where did you get your wig? I love it! It doesn’t really deserve to be on a diseased girls head though, soooo…..” She says, and just like that, my wig is gone. The three girls running as fast as they can, being in heels.

“PLEASE GIVE IT BACK!” I shout through my tears.

I run out of the bathroom in full tears. Not knowing where to go. I’m lost, and ugly.
