at the grand foyer
"i'm surprised you're not late.", renjun teased as soojin walked towards the couch he was sitting in at the school's grand foyer. soojin rolled her eyes, "tch".
"we've arrived.", was what the pair's uber driver said when they reached their destination- 1 million dance studio.
once soojin laid her eyes on the huge '1M' sign on the modern looking building, her eyes lit up as she exclaimed, "you go to 1 million?!"
1 million dance studio was one of the most prestigious studios around and soojin would often find herself engrossed watching youtube videos showcasing their choreography. some of her biggest dance inspirations were from the said studio, like may j lee and lia kim.
when renjun and soojin stepped into the iconic studio, a smiley, handsome man greeted them, "heyyy renjun. i suppose this is your girlfriend?"
"w-what? n-no!" renjun quickly denied, blushing wildly, causing soojin to let out a small giggle at renjun's tomato-red cheeks.
"kidding, don't take it seriously! i'm taemin, a good friend of renjun's and the instructor of this class. pleasure to meet you!", taemin introduced himself to soojin.
"i'm soojin! it's great to be here!", soojin replied, shaking hands with the friendly instructor.
after warming up and stretching, it was finally time for the class to start. while finding a spot to stand at, soojin saw a familiar face. "jeno?"
"soojin! what are the odds!", jeno exclaimed in surprise, noticing soojin waving at him.
"wait... if he's here, then who's his partner?"
"jeno, come her- soojin?" a female's voice rang out. as soojin looked over jeno's shoulder, there stood kim minju- the girl who previously had went up against her for the dance battle.
"minju? you dance here?" soojin asked in curiousity.
minju smiled, unintentionally showing off her dimples. "yes! i only started a while ago though, so i'm not very good."
"no wonder! i knew you weren't a complete amateur during the dance battle!"
according to minju, she had went up to jeno right after the dance battle and had asked if he could attend the dance class.
however, their small talk didn't last long as it was time for the class to officially begin.
taemin stood in front of the class with a fellow instructor, teaching the steps to the focused class of dancers.
the choreography itself wasn't too difficult to soojin. rather, it was making the movements as sharp and precise as possible which was the tougher part. to soojin's surprise, her partner renjun was catching on well. the boy caught on to the movements fast, and was executing them well too.
soojin raised her eyebrows in wonder, "i wonder why he chose to take basketball instead of dance in school- he's such a natural at this!"
after all the steps had been taught, it was time for each pair to go onto the dance floor alone, dancing the piece full-out.

taemin and his partner went up first and once the music came on, the room exploded with applause and cheers as taemin and his partner danced. even others outside were staring at them in awe through a glass door.
taemin and his partner hit every move with precision and strength, yet didn't lose their fluidity.
"he's actually our alumni, well- more of your alumni. he studied in geminus too and was an arthead.", renjun whispered to soojin.
starstruck, soojin was deep in thought, "damn... this is what art faculty alumni dance like?"
after taemin and his partner finished, they received a standing ovation, accompanied with loud cheers.
the next pair was jeno and minju. they did a good job, even though the skill level between them was slightly obvious.
"renjun and soojin, come on out!", taemin called out.
soojin gulped and renjun's eyes widened in surprise, not expecting to get called out so early. as the two fist bumped and shot each other looks of confidence and encouragment, they were ready and got into their starting positions.
when they started dancing, it was as if their surroundings had disappeared and that they were the only ones present. they both felt the music in their bones, hitting every beat. when they touched, excitement burned through them. when they made eye contact, they were captivated, lost in each other's eyes.
renjun then realised how beautiful soojin's big, dark brown eyes truly were.
after the last line of the song boomed, signalling the end of the dance, the captivated audience broke into another applause and started cheering their names.
renjun and soojin gave each other genuine grins, and soojin swiftly went up to renjun, giving him a quick hug, taking renjun by surprise. "thanks for bringing me here, it was another reminder of why i love dance so much- it makes me so happy!"
even taemin went up to them, showering them with compliments at how charismatic they were and how remarkable their chemistry was on the dance floor.
while everyone was smiling and cheering, impressed with renjun and soojin's duet, jeno felt something in his chest while watching the duet. behind that forced smile, he didn't feel very happy- and he didn't know why.
