Chapter Twenty: Out for Coffee

I glanced down at my phone, letting it light up to show the picture of Max and I kissing. I smiled, checking the time.

"We really should get up," I said, looking down at Max. He smiled up at me, reaching up and running his fingers through my curls. He was laying on his back in my bed, staring up at me while I leaned across his stomach. He tucked a piece of my bangs behind my ear, cupping my face in his hand.

"You don't really want too though," he said, smirking. I rolled my eyes, leaning against his palm.

"Neither do you," I countered. He chuckled, quickly leaning up and slipping his arm around my waist. He swiftly changed our positions, laying me next to him as he leaned over my body. I giggled, the childish glint in his eyes adorable to me.

"So let's not," he said with a grin, his face inches from mine. My stomach flipped, even though this was absolutely normal to me. He kissed me, bracing himself on the bed on either side of me. I put my hand on his waist, smiling into it.

There was a soft knock on my door before Dustin pushed it open, leaning against the door frame. Max broke away, pulling back slightly. Dustin gave him a pointed look, making him turn slightly red. I rolled my eyes at my brother, crawling into Max's lap.

"Mom said to come wake you guys up," Dustin said to me. I curled into Max's chest, keeping myself warm.

"We've been up," I assured him, burying my face in Max's neck. He let out a soft laugh, his arms going around me. Dustin chuckled, turning to leave.

"It's past noon," he called over his shoulder. "Get up."

I sighed, looking up and meeting Max's gaze as Dustin closed the door behind him. Max smiled, squeezing my waist.

"Told you," I said. He laughed, removing me from his lap. I frowned as he got up and walked to the door, turning the knob. He looked back at me and grinned, pulling it open.

"I'll be back, beautiful," he promised, jogging across the hall. I laughed, standing up and slowly stretching. I rubbed the back of my neck, sleepily making my way towards my suitcase.

Max poked his head into my room, smiling. "What do you want me to wear, love?" he asked. "Since we're going to see your friend and all," he explained. I blew my bangs from my face, still not really awake.

"Casual," I told him, pulling out a pair of denim capris. He nodded, smiling at me sweetly before leaving again. I chuckled, grabbing a black and blue plaid shirt. I threw it on over a white cami unbuttoned, running a brush through my hair and brushing my teeth. I did my makeup and covered my hickeys, sitting on the vanity and listening to music as I did so.

Max came in, pulling the cracked door all the way open and walking in. He closed it behind him, shutting it all the way.

"Hi," he said cutely, standing in front of me. I grinned at him, looking at his outfit. He had on a pair of khaki cargo shorts and a graphic tee, tennis shoes thrown lazily on his feet and only half tied.

"Hey baby," I said. I took his chin in my hands, covering his hickeys as he talked.

"So where are we going?" he asked cheerily. His hands came to rest on my thighs, watching me as I worked.

"Coffee Bean to meet Ali, then she told me we would figure it out from there," I told him, releasing his chin. He nodded, smiling at me lovingly. I grabbed my phone and keys, pointing towards the door.
