Aurora looked up from her daze and noticed Hermione kneeling in front of her. "Here, eat this, it'll help" professor Lupin said, holding out a couple squares of chocolate "it's alright, its chocolate" he reassured Aurora as he saw her sceptical look. Aurora and Harry both sat up, a piece of chocolate in both of their hands.
They looked around the compartment and noticed all the lights were back on and the train was moving again "what the bloody hell was that thing?" Aurora asked "it was a dementor. One of the gaurds of Azkaban. It's gone now. It was searching the train for Sirius Black" Professor Lupin explained. He then set the rest of his chocolate packet down in between Harry and Aurora.
"If you'll excuse me. I need to have a little word with the driver" Lupin opened the compartment door and stepped outside, lingering in the door frame for a second before turning to Harry and Aurora "eat, You'll feel better". He then walked away down the carriage.
Lupin walked out of the compartment in shock, he'd know those eyes anywhere. He knew Rosie's daughter went to Hogwarts and he knew he was most likely going to see her but he wasn't expecting her to be the first thing he saw after warding off a dementor. He was completely lost with what to do, this girl was the child of his two best friends, one of whom he believed to be a mass murderer; the only thing he could even think of doing was ignoring her but he knew that wasn't going to happen considering he had to teach her for the year and hopefully more.
"what happened to us?" Harry asked as he took a bite of the chocolate "we'll you sort of went rigid. we thought maybe you two were having a fit or something" Ron explained. Aurora was curled into the corner, munching on her chocolate. To say she was confused would be an understatement. Why was she a target? why did this not only happen to Harry but to her?
"and did either of you two..." Harry trailed off "you know... pass out?" "no" Ron sighed "it felt weird though. Like I'd never be cheerful again"
"but someone was screaming" Harry said. Aurora perked up at this " I heard it too, it was a woman" she agreed "No one was screaming" Hermione denied

"Welcome! Welcome to another year at Hogwarts" Dumbledore greeted everyone in the great hall "now, I'd like to say a few words before we all become too befuddled by our excellent feast. First, I would like to welcome Professor R.J. Lupin who's kindly consented to fill the post of Defence Against the Dark Arts teacher. Good luck Professor" Dumbledore held a hand out directed to Lupin.
Lupin stood up so everybody could see him and everyone gave him a round of applause "of course, that's why he gave us the chocolates Harry" Aurora told him. "Potter. Is it true you and Harring fainted?" Malfoy asked the two, one of his friends fake fainted as a joke "Malfoy, is it true you kiss your father's arse?" Aurora snarked back. Malfoy glared at her and turned back to their table "that's what I thought" she mumbled
The Gryfinfour turned their attention back to Dumbledore and his speech "our Care of Magical Creatures teacher has decided to retire, in order to spend more time with his remaining limbs. Fortunately, I'm delighted to announce that his place would be taken by none other than our own, Rubeus Hagrid". Everybody let out a large round of applause once again. McGonagall nudged Hagrid's side as a way of telling him to stand up.
When Hagrid stood, he knocked over all of the golden goblets, cutlery and crockery bounced along the table, Harry, Aurora, Hermione and Ron were easily the loudest people in the great hall, all four were whistling and cheering for Hagrid. As Dumbledore began speaking again, McGonagall pulled Hagrid back down into his seat.
"Finally, on a more disquieting note... at the request of the Ministry of Magic, Hogwarts will, until further notice, play host to the dementor's of Azkaban" Many whispers and gasps were heard throughout the hall as Dumbledore said this "until such a time as Sirius Black is captured. The dementor's will be stationed at every entrance to the grounds. Now, whilst I've been assured that their presence will not disrupt our day - to - day activities, a word of caution.
"Dementors are vicious creatures. They'll not distinguish between the one they hunt and the one who gets in their way. Therefore, I must warn each and every one of you to give them no reason to harm you" Dumbledore look around the great hall very pointedly "It is not in the nature of a dementor to be forgiving. But, you know, happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, if only one remembers to turn on the light"

After the feast in the great hall, everybody filled out and began heading back to their common rooms. The Gryffindors walked up the moving staircase that lead to their common room. Seamus ran up ahead to open the portrait hole "Fortuna Major" he recited. The rest of the Gryffindor house members stopped at the portrait of the fat lady.
The fat lady was holding up a glass and singing, if you could even call it that, at a very high pitch. Aurora could tell she was trying to break the glass using her voice but was sadly failing. "Here, listen, she just won't let me in" Seamus said "Fortuna Major" Harry tried. The fat lady stopped singing for a moment "No, no. Wait, wait" she said "watch this".
The fat lady demonstrated her singing again but this time it turned into a horrible scream which made not only the students cover their ears, but the paintings around them. It was clear that the glass wasn't going to break anytime soon, so the fat lady smashed it against the pillar which sat beside her in her portrait. The fat lady gasped in fact surprise "Amazing, just with my voice"
"I've had it" Aurora mumbled as she pushed her way to the front of the crowd "Fortuna Major" Aurora said loudly. "Yes alright. Go in" the fat lady finally allowed them inside their common room "cheers, love" Aurora said in agitation.
"She still doing it after three years" Seamus complained "She cant even bloody sing!" Aurora exclaimed "exactly" Harry agreed.
