Jeff and Norman pulled up behind Dixie's ambulance. Jeff ran out and Norman went with the police who arrived just before.
"Jeff, she got stabbed!" Dixie shouted
"Right, you stay there with her and I'll drive to Holby" Jeff ran to the front of the ambulance and started driving
"Dixie" Sam said weakly
"Yes darling?" Dixie held on to Sam abdomen
"It's bad, isn't it?" Sam said
"Well, it's not ideal" Dixie tried to comfort her
"Tell...tell Dylan. I love him. And I'm sorry for everything I have done in the past few years. But I love him so much. Take... take good care of him" Sam deteriorated
"Jeffrey go faster!" Dixie started to do chest compressions but got nowhere.
"Jeff. She's gone." Dixie wiped away a tear
"Sorry Dix. Let's get her to Holby. Can you call in to Nick?" He asked
"Yeah" Dixie replied
Dixie of our her mobile phone and called Nick Jordan, "hello Mr Jordan. I'm afraid I'm the bearer of bad news. Sam Nicholls was stabbed in the back of the ambulance and we couldn't save her. Can you tell Dylan? I want to talk to him too, pass on a message from Sam. Thank you" she put down the phone and looked at Sam who was on the stretcher. She pulled the blanket over her head then sat in the corner and cried.
They got to the hospital where Nick and Dylan were waiting outside. Dixie opened the back doors and closed them when they walked in. Dylan pulled the blanket from her face and instantly started crying.
"She wanted me to tell you something." Dixie put a hand on Dylan's back
"What was it?" He said through the sniffles
"She said she loves you, so much. And that she is sorry for the things she did over the past few years, then she said she loves you, again" Dixie frowned
Dylan got out of the ambulance with Jeff. Dixie and Nick were going to deal with Sam. Jeff sat down with Dylan in the hospital staff room.
"Mate, she was special, you can't deny that" Jeff smiled
"Yeah, I don't know how to react. Is that bad? I want to shout and cry but she would say what's the point of that?" Dylan put his hands through is hair
"Just do whatever you need to do" Jeff said
With that, Dylan just cried uncontrollably into his hands. Jeff put an arm around him, with the biggest feeling of sympathy he has ever felt.
