F/m - Favorite meal

Y/n's POV

I sigh as I sift through all the clothes in my drawers to find some type of dress.
It takes a while, but I finally find one that's black and shoulderless.
I quickly throw it on as excitement courses through my veins.

I've never been on a real date before!

A giggle escapes me as I grab onto my black heels and wallet before rushing out the door.
Once at the stairs, I sit down and slowly make my way down.
When I'm excited it clouds my senses and makes me clumsy.
The last thing I need is to trip and fall down the stairs.
Then I'd be spending my night in a hospital instead of with Mark.
When I feel my foot hit the cold hardwood floor, I slip on my heels and stand up.
For a few seconds I wobble like I'm going to fall over.
As I think I'm going to lose my balance and fall, I hear a deep chuckle from behind me and feel them grasp my elbow.
My face heats up with embarrassment.
"Ready to go?" He asks.
I nod my head really fast earning another chuckle.
"Then we should get going."
Mark let's go of my shoulder and instead takes hold of my hand.
I don't question his actions and let the man lead me to the car.
"M'Lady." Mark opens the passenger side door for me and I shoot him a smile before hopping in.
"Why thank you."
"No problem."
He closes the door and then gets in on his own side.

I cannot wait for us to get there.

The whole ride to the restaurant is a bit awkward. Mark keeps saying things that aren't like him.
It makes me a bit concerned, but maybe he's just as nervous as I am and doesn't know what to talk about.

"I've always wondered what it would be like to be blind."
Mark says out of the blue.
I raise an eyebrow at him.
"Really? I wouldn't think that people even wonder that." I respond.
"What do you mean?" He asks.
I shrug my shoulders.
"Uh....I don't know. Being blind is probably exactly as it sounds."
I can feel his hard stare on me.
I begin to sweat.

What type of conversation is this?!

"Y/n,"
I turn to face the man at the wheel.
"Y-yes?" I stutter.
"Can-...Can you see me?"
My eyes widen as flaring red lights go off in my head.
"Wh-what do you-u m-mean?"
I ask, confused.
"Are you blind."
I feel the car stop and he turns off the engine.
"That's ridiculous!"
I grab hold of the door handle only for my pulling on it to not open it.
"Mark, unlock the door." I say.
"Are you blind Y/n?" He repeats.
"Of course not. Now unlock the door!" I begin to pull on the handle so hard that it seems like it could pop off at any second.
"What color is my hair."
I freeze.
Letting go of the handle I turn to the man with a mortified look plastered on my features.
"W-What?" I ask.
"What color is my hair?"
His tone isn't demanding or angry; it's just.....calm.
"B-brown." I say with almost no confidence.
The tension grows as he doesn't give a response to what I had answered.
It feels like it's almost hard to breathe with how thick the air is around us.
"Why didn't you just tell me?" He asks, a bit sad.
My heart drops at his tone.
"How did you even find out?"
I'm met with silence.
"Who told you?" I almost demand him for an answer.
"Ethan did."

My eyes widen.
I feel betrayed.
How could Ethan do that?
This wasn't his secret to tell.
I would have told Mark.
If this date went good then I was going to tell him myself.

"Oh." Is the only response I can even get out of my body.
"I'm sorry if you didn't want me to know. I didn't want to intrude on your privacy like that. I should have asked you in a different way." He says.
I sadly smile.
"It's alright." I tell him.
"Why didn't you tell me though? I just don't understand."
I feel fear rise in me again.
"I thought you wouldn't want to talk to me if you knew." I almost whisper.
Silence.
Then Mark bursts out laughing.
"Y/n, I would never want to not talk to you. You're amazing and you being blind doesn't change the fact that I like you."
I smile.
"How about we get on with this date then."
I nod.
I hear a click and we both open our doors to exit the vehicle.
Mark walks over to my side and takes my hand to help guide me to the restaurant.
I thank him for his kindness as we enter and we get taken to our reserved seats.
"Here are your menus."
The waiter sets down the menus on the table in front of us.
"Do you have any in brail?" Mark asks for me.
I smile as my excitement returns.
"Um, we do. Would you like one?" He asks.
"Yes, for her."
I assume the waiter nods and I hear the clicking of his shoes as he walks off.
"Thanks."
"I'm just glad I could help."
Soon the waiter returns and hands me a brail menu.
I thank him and open it up.
I begin to run my fingers over everything causing my eyes to widen as I read the prices.
"Mark!" I nearly shout.
I feel the table shake a bit.
I probably startled him.
"Is everything okay?" He asks, worried.
"Everything is super expensive!" I say.
He laughs and takes the menu from my grasp.
"What do you like?" He asks.
"What do you mean?"
"Food wise. What is your favorite meal?"
I think for a long moment before responding with,
"F/m."
After a minute or two I hear the clicking of shoes as someone walks over.
"I would like chicken and dumplings for myself and f/m for the lady."
I feel my face heat up once again.
"Alright. It should be out shortly."

What is Mark doing to me?
