Acceptance over understanding

You don't understand me,
And I don't understand you.

I don't understand why a new name is so hard for you to grasp.
I don't understand how you can view it as "loosing your little girl".

Mum, I'm still me.
Everything I went through,
With and without you.

Every braid in my hair,
Every dress I was made to wear;
They're a part of me.

I'm sorry, and I'm not sorry.
I'm sorry that you may miss your little girl and I'm not sorry because she wasn't really real.

I'm sorry that this may be hard for you and I'm not sorry because it's way harder for me.

I'm sorry that we can't understand each other. But, I thank you, for despite this, you've accepted me.
