Chapter Eleven;;- Official First Meetings

"Wow," [name] murmured, looking up at the tall building in front of her. "This is a pro-hero's office, huh?" She gripped her bag tightly, steeling herself. She stepped inside, immediately seeing some sidekicks and other officials that [name] couldn't possibly fathom what they did bustling around. They looked busy, and [name] didn't really want to bother them, so she strolled around aimlessly for a little while before catching sight of a white cape that she was sure was Amajiki's.

She followed it, and sure enough, it was. "Amajiki-kun!" She called out, catching his attention. He was walking with Fatgum and the new intern from the night before. She wasn't sure she would ever know what they did all day long, but if Amajiki was happy doing it, then she would support him. [name] hesitated. "Or, should I call you Suneater because you're in costume?" She pondered aloud.

"Amajiki is fine, [surname]-san..," Amajiki answered, hesitating a little on his own. "W-What are you... doing here?"

[name] smiled shyly. "I know you told me not to worry, but I was worrying anyway," She said with a nervous laugh. "I wanted to... check on you again." A little bit embarrassed, her eyes drifted away.

"I-I'm fine," he assured, cheeks flushing.

An embarrassed tension filled the hallway they stood in, including Fatgum and the new intern. [name], desperate to break it, extended a hand to the new intern. "Sorry, I forgot to introduce myself yesterday. I'm [surname] [name], Amajiki-kun's friend."

He took her hand. He had a firm grip. "Kirishima Eijirou," He answered, grinning brightly. [name] suddenly understood Amajiki's analogy of the sun. "I'm one of senpai's underclassmen."

[name] hummed. "Ahh, so you're a U.A. student, too." She chuckled. "Well, duh, you're interning at a hero's office," She added afterwards, somewhat to herself. Internally, she scolded herself for the awkward conversation. "You're... a first year, aren't you?"

Kirishima nodded. "Yeah! Class 1-A."

"That's why you look familiar," She said with an 'aha' written across her face. "I remember seeing you at the sport's festival. My little brother was unusually interested in the first years this year."

Kirishima brightened up with pride. "You remember that? That was a while ago, though." He laughed humbly, rubbing the nape of his neck. Despite his modest demeanor, she could tell that he was really thrilled to have been recognized.

[name] shook her head with confusion. "Definitely. I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention, but I remember there being some pretty cool fights this year. Talented group, you lot."

The first year was beaming, joy coming off of him in rays of light. [name] resisted the urge to squint. "Thank you!"

[name] couldn't help but grin also. "Gosh, aren't you cute," she laughed, turning away from him after and looking back at Amajiki. He was fidgeting in his spot, playing with his fingers and staring down at the floor. "Well, you do seem fine now, and if you're already back to working hard, I should probably leave you alone now, huh?" She took a step backward, waving. "Sorry for interrupting."

Amajiki shook his head, still not meeting her eyes. "N-No, you didn't... I was just about to change so I could go home..."

[name] smiled widely. "Want me to wait here for you? We can go to the train together?"

He shrugged passively. "If you want to..."

"Then I will," she stated simply. Amajiki trudged off to change, leaving [name] in the hallway. Kirishima and Fatgum bid her goodbye as well.

Immediately, [name] started over-analyzing Amajiki's behavior. He wasn't usually like this, right? Was he really not fine? Was he still hurt? No-- he was acting normally when [name] first got here. What happened between then and just now?

When he came back, now wearing his school uniform again, [name] nudged his uninjured shoulder gently. "Hey, you are alright, right?" They started walking, retracing [name]'s steps.

Amajiki shook his head vehemently. "O-Of course I am!" He said, quicker than he was probably intending to, judging by the blush that quickly spread across his cheeks.

She hummed defeatedly. "You're acting different," She stated simply, holding her elbows with a resigned sigh.

He bit his lip nervously. "No, [surname]-san... I'm fine..." Amajiki angled his eyes downward, only furthering [name]'s growing concern.

They walked in silence for a while, [name]'s thoughts spiraling down into a deep hole of what could possibly be wrong with Amajiki. The silence, unlike the usual comfortable silence they would often share, was tense. [name] desperate for an out, asked, "S-So, uh, how come you invited Kirishima-kun to intern at Fatgum's agency?"

Amajiki seemed to deflate a little bit. "He came after me..," He started, a shudder running down his spine, "It was a little scary..."

[name] laughed. "Understandable. He sure seems like he could be intense,"she agreed, mostly to make him feel better, still pushing giggles back. "He also seems like a good kid though, such a sweetheart." The silence came back again with a vengeance. [name] cursed to herself, pondering what in the world is making Amajiki so short of words tonight.

She looked over at Amajiki, who was watching the ground as they walked. His hands were connected in front of him, playing with his fingers absentmindedly. His eyes looked faraway, grounded in some other plane of reality. He sighed, blinking out of his trance and looking over to meet [name]'s eyes. His face flushed and he looked away quickly.

[name] exhaled with a huff. He kept going quiet every time they talked about the hero agency. Did something happen at his internship? Well, obviously, he was shot yesterday for Pete's sake. Nothing else was new though, was it? Besides Kirishima. But he hadn't been acting differently when [name] had originally shown up. He only started getting all quiet on her after she had talked to Kirishima...

Oh. My. God. The realization hit [name] like a ton of bricks and she couldn't help but laugh out loud.

Amajiki looked over, confused.

"Amajiki-kun," [name] started, choking down her laughter. "Are you pouty because I called Kirishima-kun cute?"

Amajiki's entire face turned bright red and [name] swore she could steam coming off of his skin. "N-N-No!" He waved his hands in front of his face. "N-Not at all, [surname]-san!"

[name] smiled, patting his shoulder reassuringly. "Of course not," She said amicably. "You're pretty cute too, though, Amajiki-kun."

He could have passed out right then and there from how hard he was blushing.

They ended up going home without any more trouble, and the quiet was suddenly much more comforting. Sure, Amajiki would never admit it, but they both knew that he was feeling much better.
