Jake's POV
....
Harry is still positioned in the hall, waiting outside the bathroom for Cassie. He looks like he could knock out any second but he refuses to sleep every time I tell him he should. He actually cares about her way more than I ever expected him to. He seems like a good guy. I just hope for Cassie's sake that he's patient, she takes forever to settle down nowadays.
I walk closer before offering to help him get up, like I have been every twenty minutes or so. This time he actually accepts my help. I give him a pat on the back before he sluggishly makes his way to Cassie's room. I'm surprised he waited this long, Cassie's been in the bathroom for over an hour.
After Harry shuts Cassie's door, I make an attempt to try to get her out of the bathroom. I know she locked the door so there's no use in trying to open it. I lay down flat on the ground so I can look underneath the bottom of the door. I can only see a little bit and by the looks of it Cassie is sitting with her back against the tub, her legs cradled to her body. I doubt she's still awake. Knowing her, she tired herself out a long time ago.
The lock on the bathroom door is one of the push locks. I can unlock the door with anything small enough to fit in the hole. I go to the office, grab a paperclip, and return to the bathroom door. I unbend the paperclip, making it longer, and stick it in the hole. With a bit of twisting and some force, the lock finally pops and I am able to open the door.
Cassie is asleep, just like I expected her to be. I walk in and carefully grab her, carrying her bridal style. I take her to my room with no problem. It's a good thing that I had to do weight training in the Army; Cassie's not that heavy anyway, but it still helps. I place her down on my bed and throw the cover over her. I grab a few pillows and head out to the living room. There's no way I'm sleeping in the same bed as her while Harry's here, that's just not cool.
I grab one of the extra blankets out of the hall closet and lay down on the couch. I can't believe I'm sleeping on the couch for her. She's going to owe me so much, my bed is the best one in the house.
Cassie's POV
I wake up with the sun shining directly into my eyes. Why is the sun shining in my eye? I was in the bathroom when I fell asleep, it isn't possible for that in there. I block the light with my hand and allow my eyes to adjust. I'm in Jake's room. He must have brought me in here.
I carefully get up from Jake's bed. I don't want to fall off this waterbed again. I stopped sleeping on it for that exact reason. Water doesn't have edges, so there was never any warning of my impending three and a half foot fall. I know three feet isn't that high but just imagine falling that distance three to four times a week; that fall's now a big deal.
I stretch while making my way to the living room. Upon entering, I see a pile of blankets on the couch. It doesn't seem like there's anyone in them at first glance but upon getting closer, I see Jake. I can't believe he slept on the couch, he could've just slept with me. It's not a big deal, it never has been, like ever. I can't remember how many beds we've shared in the past ten- thirteen years? I don't even know, we've known each other for a long time.
I pad my way back around the house to my own room. I see someone lying in my bed and it hits me; Jake's on the couch because Harry's still here. I left him alone like a fucking idiot. He flew all the way down here for me and I left him. I feel terrible. All of this because I can't get over the intimate moment I had with Louis months ago. I'm such an idiot.
I walk over to my bed where Harry is still sleeping; sitting down, slowly, careful not to disturb him. After adjusting my self, I hear him mumble something. He rolls over and drapes his arms over my waist, his head on my thigh. He scoots in closer before mumbling again. I can't tell what he's saying but I don't think it matters, sleep talk is always out of context. He moves and fidgets around a while longer, his hair draped over his face. His hair is so long now, it's ridiculous but so attractive at the same time. I take a piece of it and twirl it absentmindedly as I stare out the widow.
