She should have known this wouldn't work. He'd been gone for over thirty minutes.

She half expected for him to come back with two hefty women at his side. If he came back at all.

There wasn't much in this room to come back to. A few fur blankets and an extra loincloth.

Pacing, she waited for the wall to reopen. It had to be Julian. She didn't know how she was going to get him off this ship. She had no idea what they'd do next, her only plan so far was finding him.

It had to be him.

If he was even here. Over a month and she still didn't know how she came to be here. Either these rat women had done something to her memory, or day three and four had really kicked her ass and fried her brain because she still couldn't remember anything that happened after that day on the road.

She knew Marty wasn't here. Jess could only hope that the poor girl had been left behind again. Being a girl and having no gifts, there was a good chance she had been.

Hoping Julian wasn't here was just wishful thinking on her part. If she was here, she was almost positive he was too.

And he'd be as worried about her as she was about him.

It had to be him.

"I need my rest. Why would a slave interest me?"

If her mouth could have it would have dropped to the floor. When the door opened and closed, William had Sinful with him not Julian.

Sinful dressed in a loincloth and nothing else. He also looked like he'd been rubbed all over in oil. His hair was longer, and he hadn't shaved in a few days.

A smile blossomed on his face at the sight of her. "I'll be honest, I never thought you'd come looking for me, much less find me. It's good to see you."

Yeah, it would be back on the floor. As it was, she knew it must be wide open. Sin was not one to be happy to see anyone.

"Let's get out of here." He came closer. "I don't even care that this is going to hurt like hell, I'm ready."

When he would have taken her hand, Jess jumped back.

He was already frowning at the sight of the thing around her neck. "You didn't find me, they found you?"

"Yeah. Have you seen Julian?"

He sighed. "Fuck."

"I know. Have you seen him?"

"No. Haven't heard anything about him either. What about Hayley and Macie?"

"I don't know where they are. They went missing too but I don't think they're here or I would have found them by now."

"That's something at least. That Savion dude?"

"I'm starting to hope so."

"You and me both." He looked around the room, then looked at William. "You okay here?"

"I think he's harmless enough."

"I better go."

"You can't go. What am I supposed to do?" She moved closer but stopped herself from grabbing him.

"I have to go. They'll be looking for me."

"Are you okay?"

He shrugged. "I'm okay. They're not all that smart. For the most part, I keep them all fighting over me. I'll keep my eye out for Julian."
