After a wink at Will, she put herself back in her cell. Two days. She just had to bear this for two more days and then she would be free with Julian at her side.

She had to be patient. Too many were counting on her.

With a look of disgust, she opened the collar and started to put it around her neck. It wasn't like she couldn't take it off whenever she wanted to. She just had to make sure they didn't find it off her. Talk about ruining a_____

She felt like she was falling in slow motion. For a moment she felt like she imagined it because she was still in her cell but then she wasn't.

First, she had to find a way to stay on her feet, then she had to fight off the nausea she felt at knowing he was in the same room as her. After all this time and she could still feel him when he was near.

She wondered if she kept her eyes close if all of this would disappear, so she wouldn't have to face it. So, she wouldn't have to face him.

"She appears to be in poor health. Her vitals are all over the place and she has a high fever. The scan shows she has two fractures in her right hand and two crack ribs. She is malnourished, and she has a gash on her head that needs attending. Should I call in the physicians?"

Fucking Dez. She kind of missed the retard. "Don't bother. I'm not staying."

"Dezrick, close the barrier this instant."

"You really shouldn't piss me off right now, Kellum." Big talk since she was shaking so bad, she wouldn't be surprise if he could see it. "I have to go. Remove your puppy fence."

She knew looking at him would be a mistake but when he made no move to do what she said, nor did he say anything, she kind of had no choice but to look at him.

The bastard looked the same. White, blond hair, wow eyes to die for. How many times has she wished for this? How many times has she said she'd rather die than face him again?

Catching sight of Jetidi, she paled and couldn't have stayed on her feet if she tried. "Mel?"

The little boy came to her and placed his hand upon her shoulder. "She is well and misses you greatly."

With the relief, came the tears. "Tell her I'll come back for her but there's something I have to do first."

Jess recognized the strength and the peace his touch was giving her, but she didn't have time for it.

"Dezrick, I have to go back. Tell me why I'm here?"

"We must see your mark."

"When hell freezes. Now let me go."

"I am unable to do so at this time."

Fuck a duck. Was her life not complicated enough?

Staying on her knees, she braced herself to look at him again. He hadn't moved a muscle, but he had tears on his face. His eyes never left hers. "You have to let me go."

"Never."

"You don't get to say that."

"Future king, I would remind you that time is of importance."

She could see him trying to pull himself together. "Whatever this is about it has nothing to do with me. I don't belong here anymore, remember? Your rules don't apply to me. I was cast out and ordered to never return, so I am telling you once again. Let me go. It's very important that I return right now."
