I'm gonna come right out and say it because I'm nearly certain half of you have guessed the truth.

I'm a feminist.

Holy crow, that's hard to say. I can feel people glaring at me right now, I swear.

The reason I'm bringing up my belief for gender equality is because I've noticed that feminists have invaded modern literature and have created the anti-Mary-Sue. Let's call her something intense, tough and vaguely Russian -- Vera it is.

Now Vera is awesome.  She's tough, takes flak from no one, and is an all-around badass. She may have a romantic thingy going on but she tends to be in charge. She can handle any situation with Schwarzenegger swagger, and no, she doesn't look at explosions. She just walks away like "Vat? Dat little fire? *snort* In Soviet Russia, fire like that doesn't burn you, you burn it."

But she's essentially a Mary-Sue with Austin Powers boob guns. She has no fault other than, perhaps, a sociopathic lack of empathy. Or lack of control of her love life.

Which is no good either.

Both are dimensionless characters that feel like cardboard cutouts. So feminists and mysogynists, no matter your feelings towards women, make sure to keep all characters (male or female) human. But be especially human with female characters because right now, most female characters are either Mary-Sues, Veras, or Veras with Mary-Sue daddy issues.

A little variety goes a long way.

For those of you who got this far and were wondering what the title has to do with anything, it's a personal reminder. The drive down to my bro's wedding was killer.
