A bit of context before you read the story.

You live on Earth. Where else would you live? But this isn't the Earth you know irl. Normal pets like cats and dogs (And pretty much any other animal) are now human due to an outbreak of toxic gas 3 years ago, that only affected animals.

 Hybrids were now to serve their humans when feeling more human like but could still do their animal activities when feeling more of their animal characteristics take over. Some hybrids however, were closer to their owners than other hybrids (aka, hybrids and owners would be in a relationship, this usually happened when strays were taken off of the streets.) A small amount of hybrids were able to hide their characteristics from others, although this was painful, they did it to blend in with human society; so they didn't have to take orders from anyone. 

You are Kim Y/N you live in an apartment next your bestfriend Jimin of 3 years, you both live alone but keep each other company during and after school, until Jimin sometimes disappears into his apartment for days with no explanation eachtime.
