Chapter 23

Rob's POV

We stand up as he comes to us.

The look on his face tells me that there's something wrong.

"How is our baby?" Katy asks worriedly, her voice shaking as I hold her tightly.

"He's in a coma." He says softly as she lets out a loud sob.

"He has a brain damage. I'm so sorry." The doctor says.

I hold Katy up as her legs become weak and she gasps.

More tears roll down her cheeks and she grabs my shirt.

"It's all my fault." She cries as I rub her back.

"It's not. It was an accident." I say softly trying to calm her down.

She shakes her head. "I'm a horrible mother." She whispers.

"Don't say that Katy. You're the best mom and Olly loves you so much." I say.

I stand there with her in my arms for some time until she calms down a little.

I hold her hand as we slowly walk into the room he's in.

I look at the bed as Katy lets go of my hand and runs to him.

She strokes his hair as she cuddles him. "I'm sorry baby boy." She whispers, kissing his head.

I slowly come closer and sit down on the chair.

I hold his little hand as a tear escapes my eye.

I've just met him and now I've almost lost him.

He's just a baby.

I look down at him hand and kiss the back of it.

Katy watches me as she lets go of him and wraps her arms around me.

"We're a family." She whispers as she sits on my lap.

I nod as I buried my face into her chest.

"We'll get through this together, right Rob?" She asks softly.

"Yes." I say as she rests her head on top of mine.

"My two amazing boys." She says as her voice cracks.

"We have to be strong for him Katy. I know it's hard but he needs us." I say as I both look at him.

Katy gets off my lap and lays on the bed next to Olly.

She cuddles his little body and kisses his forehead.

"You're a little superhero." She whispers as I stroke his hair.

Praying silently for everything to be okay, I watch them both sleeping peacefully.

I won't let anyone or anything to hurt them.

It's my job to protect my family.
