Chapter 53

Katy's POV

I wake up in the middle of the night still in the small hospital bed with Rob next to me.

I sit up slowly and look at him as the lights are still on.

I notice his chest isn't moving and he's not breathing.

"R-Rob?" I whisper touching his cheek.

I grab his hand as it's a bit cold and I shake it lightly.

I look at the monitor and see a flat line.

I run out of the room screaming for help as the doctors rush into his room.

I watch them as I can't hear anything nor understand what's happening around me.

I couldn't even cry.

I just can't believe and don't even want to believe that I could lose him.

The doctor comes to me as I look up at him.

"I'm so sorry, Mrs. There was an infection and we couldn't do anything." He says as I shake my head.

"N-no, it can't be true." I whisper and run to his room.

I wrap my arms around him as I cry into his neck feeling his cold skin against mine.

"P-please." I sob quietly as I kiss his neck.

"You can't leave me Rob" I say, looking up at him.

"Y-you can't!" I scream, holding his cheeks.

The doctor watches me as I shake.

I kiss his lips softly one last time and wipe away my tears as I slowly stand up.

"You will always be the only one I love." I murmur sadly as I watch him.

They cover his body and I slowly leave the hospital.

I walk back home as it starts to rain.

I look down and soon get to our house all soaked.

I go up the stairs into our bedroom and lay down on his side as I begin to cry again.

Olly and Fee run to me and hug me tightly.

"Daddy's gone." I whisper weakly.
