War

"Close your eyes."
This is what mother whispered to me.

As planes dropped bombs on our home,
And our people that may never be free.

It felt like a hurricane,
Crashing into buildings and trees.

But this time is was planes and bombs,
Not roaring waves from the sea.

At war with their own kind,
Leaving human kind empty.

And now because of war,
My mother no longer whispers to me gently.

Instead she lies in the ground,
Along with the rest of humanity.
