Chapter 6

It was the morning of Jacob and Alexa's engagement, everyone was up on their feet at 8am and immediately got down to decorating and setting up the dining table.

By the afternoon, everything was set and organised, including the food and dessert. Dianna sent Alexa into the bathroom to have her shower, while her and Gina continued to work in the kitchen. Tom was sent by his wife to pick the engagement cake from Falls End and was ordered to bring it back in one piece.

Alexa walked out the bathroom with a towel wrapped around her body, she entered her room and took a seat on her bed to relax a little. Her phone rang and it was Jacob, she smiled and picked it up, "Hello Jacob" she greeted him. "Hi, sorry I just had to call" he chuckled, "you ready for tonight?". "I sure am, how about you?" She asked back and he gave her the same answer. "You get any sleep last night?" He asked and she replied back. "Slightly, I tossed and turned for a few hours. Managed to get sleep around 3am. I'm exhausted but I've still got to get ready for tonight".

"Shit, why didn't you call me instead of tossing and turning?" Jacob sounded a little angry but it was only because he cared about her. "Why would I wake you up just because I couldn't sleep? Don't be silly Jacob. I was just very excited for tonight and being your fiancé" she put her hand over her mouth, it was the first time she admitted that she was excited about being part of his life somehow. "You blushing over the phone kitten?" Jacob asked and Alexa couldn't help but blush now. This was the first time in the three days that Jacob gave her a nickname and she found it cute that he called her Kitten.

"I'm not going to answer that, instead I'm going to hang the phone up and start doing my hair and makeup. Till tonight Jacob, Goodbye" She hears him chuckle before hanging the phone up and biting her lower lip. "Did we just flirt?" She asked herself quietly and started blushing again.

The sky turned orange, it was almost time for the Seed family and a few of Alexa's relatives to arrive. Dianna made Gina and Alexa wait in the bedroom while her and Tom waited in the living room for everyone to arrive. They thought it would be sweet if Jacob saw his fiancé all dressed and prettied up at the same time as everyone else.

One by one Alexa's aunties and uncles started arriving, with some of her young cousins. Not long after Jacob and his siblings arrived but Faith was a little too sick to attend. Dianna made Tom go into the bedroom to bring Alexa out.

Everyone took a seat on the couches and chairs, chatting away, waiting for Alexa to show up. Jacob was nervous, he was bouncing his leg and John couldn't help but notice. "Brother, you ok?" John asked. Joseph was sitting next to Jacob, when he heard John's question, he looked at Jacob and smiled. "I'm ok" Jacob responded then heard a door open from the corridor.

Gina walked out with a big smile and stepped aside as Tom and Alexa walked through the door and stopped in their spot. Jacob's eyes opened wide, he stood up slowly and couldn't take his eyes off his soon to be fiancé. Everyone stood up as well, the ladies had their hands on their mouths as the looked at the beautiful Alexa in her red engagement dress, that Jacob had picked out.

Joseph put his hand on Jacob's back and ordered him to go next to her and grab her hand. Jacob did exactly that, he shook Tom's hand then grabbed Alexa's hand with a slight smile. "You look stunning" he whispered at her, kissing her on the top of her head. "Thank you" she replied back and held his hand tightly as she looked back at everyone else. Everyone started clapping as the two stood by the doorway and stared at each other, everyone could see love in both their eyes and Joseph was sure to remind Jacob of that after.

Joseph approached the couple and stood beside them, facing the crowd, "My children, thank you all for attending my brother Jacob's and Alexa's engagement party. Before we sit down for dinner, I think it's right that we put the engagement rings on so that we can celebrate this glorious moment" Joseph signalled at John to approach them with the rings. He handed them over to Joseph, who stood in between the two and placed the rings on their fingers. "I hope that god will forever protect the love between these two and that they become a strong and admiring couple" he put Alexa's hand back in Jacob's and started clapping along with everyone else. Jacob this time leaned down and kissed Alexa on the cheek, then smiled at her.
