23: I Love You

"Go away, mother." Mal said, which made Maleficent snort, holding in her laughter.

"She's funny. I'm so-you're very funny. Here." Maleficent said as stuck her hand out. "Wand me. Chop chop."

"No!" Ben shouted, though it sounded more like a roar.

Mal reached to give the wand to her mom, but then threw it to Fairy Godmother.

"Bibbidi bobbidi-" Fairy Godmother began but Maleficent cast a spell, breaking Fairy Godmother's.

"Boo." Maleficent finished.

She held her staff up and froze everyone, except herself, Mal, Evie, Jay, Carlos, Gigi and Maddie.

Maleficent turned and faced a frozen Beast, circling around him.

"Oh!" She walked up to him and took off his glasses. "Oh, in another time, in another time." She then put them on the top of his head and walked to Fairy Godmother. "Evil like me, don't you want mean, oh." she grabbed the wand. "Oh, oh no, someone needs to pluck their nose hairs." She stuck to wand in Fairy Godmother's nose then looked at them. "Where shall we begin?" She stood in front of Fairy Godmother. " I know. Why don't we start by getting rid of this!"

She used the wand to tear the ring off of Mal, Mal looked at her finger in shock.

"Perfect fit!" Maleficent chuckled like a crazy person, which she kind of was. "Oh excuse me, pardon me. The horns, the horns!" She walked under Fairy Godmother's arm. "Falling in love is weak." Maleficent turned Ben's face towards her, tilting his crown and facing him back. "And ridiculous. It's not what you want." She said to Mal.

"You don't know what I want." Mal told her mom. "Mom, have you ever once asked me what I want? I'm not you."

"Obviously, I've had years and years and years... and years of practice being evil, you'll get there." Maleficent said as if that was what Mal wanted to hear.

"No, I will not, and I really wish that you would have never gotten there yourself." She sniffled. "Love is not weak, or ridiculous. It's actually really amazing."

"I know one thing young lady, you have no room for love in your life!" Maleficent pointed the wand at them. She turned to Gigi, a sinister smile on her lips.

"Oh look." Maleficent said. "It's Mother Gothel's fake daughter. You have to be a little dumb to think you were ever her child. You got more royal blood in your veins than you know. Heir to a throne."

"Leave Gigi alone." Mal said. "And now I command wand to my hand!" The wand was ripped out of Maleficent's hand and into Mal's. "It worked!"

"I hardly think so, this is tedious and very immature. Gimme the wand. Gimme the wand!"

"Hold on Mal," Carlos said. "Maybe good is really more powerful than evil."

"Oh please, you're killing me. Arf!" She barked at them. Dude came running and jumped onto Maleficent. "Breath! Oh the breath! Get off me!"

She dropped Dude and Jay attempted to get her staff.

"Gaston should be jealous." She flicked him on the forehead which sent him falling back. "Enough! You all will Regret this!"

Green smoke engulfed Maleficent and turned her into a purple dragon. She blew fire at Jay, but he dodged it. Maleficent kept chasing him.

"Come. Run, Jay, run!" Carlos screamed.

Evie pulled out her magic mirror.

"Magic mirror, shine your bright light!" The light shined in Maleficent's eyes.

"Leave my friends alone!" Mal yelled. "This is between you and me, mother."

Maleficent's eyes glowed green. "The strength of evil is good is none, When stands before six hearts as one" Mal said as her eyes started glowing green. They had their staring contest, until Maleficent shrunk small, they all ran toward the tiny Maleficent.

"What just happened?" Maddie asked.

"I have no idea." Mal said.

"Did you do it?" Evie asked.

"I don't know" Mal said. Fairy Godmother ran to them.

"No, no, no, no, your mother did. She shrank to the size of the love in her heart. That's why it's so ity-bity." Fairy Godmother said.

"Is she gonna be like that forever?" Mal and Fairy Godmother kneeled down.

"Forever is a long time. You learned to love, so can she." Fairy Godmother said

"I believe this along to you." Mal handed back the wand. "And I believe this," Fairy Godmother grabbed Ben's ring. "Belongs to you. You all have earned an 'A' in goodness class." They all laughed and high fived. "Bibbiddi Bobbidi Boo!"

All the people unfroze, confusion in their faces.

"Hey!" Mal exclaimed as a guy placed the spell jar over Maleficent. "Careful! That's my mom!" They laughed and wrapped their arms around each other.

"Let's get this party started!" Jay exclaimed.

The group began singing a song, as they did a lot of times though it seemed planned. Maddie sat on the steps that lead to the outdoors, watching her friends sing and dance.

She heard someone sit next to her, but she didn't bother turning her head.

"Is this seat taken?" Carlos asked, as she chuckled slightly. "Why aren't you dancing with everyone else?"

"Believe it or not." Maddie said. "But these people break into song a lot and the dancing gets kind of boring."

"Yeah." Carlos said. "It does. Do you wanna? I mean would you like to dance with me?"

"Sure." Maddie said, standing up as Carlos led her to an abandoned balcony.

"You know Mads." Carlos said. "I'm sorry for what happened. I didn't mean to hurt you with the cookie. I just thought I wouldn't have a shot with you if I hadn't,"

"It's fine." Maddie said. "I'm over that. Besides the spell wore off when Ben pushed me into the enchanted lake-." Carlos raised an eyebrow. "Don't ask."

"Is this what love feels like?" Carlos asked, spinning her around and pulling her closer to him.

"I don't know." Maddie said. "But we can find out what it means. Together Some say, to survive it, you need to be as mad as a hatter. Which, luckily, I am."

"I like the sound of that." Carlos said. "I love you Hattie."

"Love you too Puppy Boy." Maddie said, as the two shared a quick kiss before looking at the fireworks that covered the sky.
