Poetry to Prose

Some say poetry is the language of love. In stringing together pearls of perfect words, the poet creates a beautiful strand, which encapsulates a wealth of emotions. This love month, we’d like to gift you with these potent pearls hoping that one would evoke an ocean of inspiration.

Use that inspiration to turn poetry into prose.

At the end of the month, a treasure chest full of prizes awaits the winners.

Poetry Prompts:

Rules:

1. To join, you must follow adultfiction, _ShortStory_ and CoffeeCommunity. If you want, add this book to your library to keep track of the updates.

2. We have six excerpts from different poems above, each bearing their own shade in the spectrum of love. Pick one that inspires you the most and write a short story based on it. The story should be at least 700 words, but must not exceed 2,000 words.

3. Don’t forget to add the poem excerpt you chose at the beginning of your work so we’ll know which one you chose.

4. Publish the story as a separate book on your profile, then comment the link to it below. All entries must be in by February 28, 2019.

5. Six winners will be selected at the end of the contest period. In the event of a tie, the number of winners can be increased.

6. Winners will be announced by March 20, 2019.

Criteria for Judging:

1. Relevance to the theme - Stories must be relevant to the theme above and must follow our rules to be eligible for judging.

2. Grammar and style - Quality of writing, particularly adherence to good grammar, style, and voice, will be judged.

3. Creativity - We’re always looking for fresh takes and creative approaches to writing.

Prizes:

1. Each winner will be featured in an anthology on the Adult Fiction, Coffee Community and Short Story profiles. The anthology will contain the short story, plus a short introduction of the featured writers. Chapter dedications will also be given to the corresponding authors.

2. Winners will also be featured on the Wattpad Chronicles book published every month by the WattAmbChronicle profile. Moreover, the link to the anthology will be shared via the Wattpad Ambassadors Twitter page.

3. All winners will also get a shoutout from ambassadors running the Adult Fiction, Coffee Community, and Short Story profiles.
