INTRO
Welcome to our newest contest, 12 Days of Writing!
Inspired by Twelve Days of Christmas, each day (from December 1 through December 12), we'll post a new writing prompt.
Every day will also feature a specific fiction genre (i.e., Fantasy, Young Adult, ChickLit, etc.) and a prompt that falls within the parameters of the chosen genre. While some prompts are holiday and Christmas themed, others are not. We've varied the prompts to hopefully keep things interesting.

RULES & REGULATIONS
-Using the prompts provided, submit a story no more than 1,000 words in length.
-Please ensure you stick to the genre of the chosen day. For example, do not write a horror story using the fantasy prompt and so on. We're hoping the different genres help writers step outside their comfort zones. :)
-Only stories written in English will be accepted.
-Your story must be written specifically for this contest.
-You can only enter one story per prompt/day. However, you're more than welcome to enter a story for each prompt if you're inspired to do so.
-You must post your story in your profile either on its own or as part of a preexisting collection/anthology.
-Some of the chosen genres will be a bit broader than others. For example, Young Adult fiction can be fantasy/contemporary/horror/thriller, etc. The prompt should give you an idea of which direction to take your story.
-Contest deadline: December 31, 2020 at 11:59pm EST. Although one prompt is posted per day (until December 12), you do not need to submit your story (or stories) to us until December 31st. Winners will be announced January 2021.

-One winner will be chosen per prompt and all winning entries will be featured/published in our Gemstones Anthology.
