All I wanted was to start over. There was nothing left for me there, in my old home. I was more than old enough to make the decision on my own, I wasn't a little girl anymore.
I knew that life here was going to be different, much different. But nothing could have prepared me for what was to come. Even if a prophet had visited me and told me what was going to happen, I wouldn't have believed them. What happened to me was unusual for this world, so unusual that most wouldn't believe it unless they were alongside me to see what I saw, hear what I heard, and go through what I endured.
It was something I couldn't outrun, something I couldn't hide from. It was something I never wanted to be pulled into.
