...

...late Monday afternoon...

It was nearing five o'clock.  Forth had not left his office since he returned from his doctor's appointment.

Nong'Yim came around the corner of the partition between desks.  Flower was already on her feet.

Yim grabbed both of Flower's hands and stood chest to chest with her.  "She's here P'.  She's here."

Lowen came through the glass doors and walked forward to the main reception desk.

"Forth Kreepolrerk is expecting me."

Peem,  the receptionist for the entire fourth floor, was expecting her.   She had two instructions to follow when this particular guest arrived.

She stood and asked Lowen to have a seat and that she would let her boss know that he had a visitor.

Lowen set her white suede purse on the desktop and turned back facing the glass.  She fluffed the ruffles around her white collar and shifted down the tight A-line, white skirt.   She shimmered with a white belt,  stockings and shoes.  All of it accomplished a quest for virginal purity, in the language of high-end fashion.  She turned sideways in the reflection and checked the knot in her hair.

The office staff were convinced that she was unquestionably beautiful,  and,  undoubtedly nervous.

Peem spoke in a low voice to the first call she made...  "Mr Kreepolrerk,  you wanted me to let you know when Forth's date arrived.

"Yes Peem,  thank you.  Don't let them leave until I get down there."

Her second call was different.

"P'Forth,  your guest is here."  Peem's voice was full of sympathy.

"Ah,  tell her I'll be right there."

"Miss Samalaya,  Nong'Forth will be right with you."

Flower let Yim go.  She smiled at the girl before she passed through the pool and out to the entrance reception area.

It was only proper. She made a wai with her head bowed and introduced herself.

"My name is Flower,  I'm young Mr Kreepolrerk's assistant.  Is there anything that I can get for you while you wait?  Something hot,  or cold?"

"Thank you P'Flower,  but no,  I'm fine."

Flower wai'd again before she walked back.  She was thinking... "She's so pleasant."  Flower was also contemplating...  "Should I have told Forth what I know?"

The elevator bells could be heard through the thick glass wall.  Forth's father walked out and was still in the midst of putting his jacket on.  He straightened it and then pushed through the door.

He appeared in Lowen's periphery, she stood immediately and greeted him.

No one could hear what he and the girl were chatting about,  but they could see after several minutes that the boss kept glancing past the secretaries and at the front of Forth's corner office.

"Nong'Peem,  could you call my son again.  Remind him that he has company here."

"Yes, sir."  Peem fibbed...  "He was just finishing up a client call sir."

Forth didn't answer until the fourth ring.

Peem whispered into the phone when he did.

"P',  your father is down here now.  He's insisting that you come to the lobby."  Peem's voice was barely discernable when she said:  "I'm sorry P'."
