~Donn's POV~

I sat up quickly, my body feeling achey and heavy. Flashes of Jennifer beneath me entered my mind, and I began to remember.

I almost killed her. I lost control and almost killed her.

I jumped up and looked around, my body still burning with adrenaline. Somehow, I had retained some of my transformation, even though my head was mostly clear. I looked behind me to see my drooping wings touching the ground. There was no way I could go into public looking like this.

I rushed toward the window, realizing it was still night. There was no time to lose. Jogging to the front door, I ran outside, spreading my wings and flapping as hard as I could. Scratches and holes lined my wings, and I realized it would be another day until they fully healed. Flying was impossible right now. I took a few deep breaths to prep myself for running, and I took off down the street, the same direction I had seen the car take off. I prayed it was dark enough to not draw attention, but it hardly mattered.

Almost like a craving, I knew I had to see Jennifer again. I had to find her.

     I have to find her.
